Yamaha Tracer 9 and Tracer 900: specifications and compatible accessories

Yamaha Tracer 9
Sport touring · from 2021

The CP3 three-cylinder engine in touring form, with panniers already standard on the GT

Same mechanics as the MT-09, but with fairing, semi-active suspension on the GT, and panniers included. The catalog here follows the intended use: protective films, tank grips, and protection for the dashboard and panniers, because this is a bike that covers miles and should be preserved.

Who it’s recommended for

It’s the right bike if

  • You take long two-up trips: standard panniers on the GT and semi-active suspension that adapts to the load
  • You’re not tall: the seat is adjustable between 810 and 825 mm, making it one of the most accessible in the category
  • You want the character of the CP3 three-cylinder engine without giving up a fairing and comfort
  • You’re more interested in protecting the bike than transforming it: here, the catalog consists of protective films and grip products
  • You check the year before ordering: 2021 and 2025 are the two code turning points

Look elsewhere if

  • You’re interested in off-road riding: 17-inch wheels and road-focused chassis leave no room for it
  • You’re looking for light weight: it’s twenty kilos heavier than the MT-09, and you feel it when maneuvering
  • You’re looking for a license plate holder, frame sliders, or handlebar stabilizers: they aren’t in the catalog
  • You’re concerned about the maintenance of the semi-active suspension, which is more expensive than a conventional fork
  • Ordering accessories based only on the name: between the Tracer 900, Tracer 9, and the 2025 series, almost nothing is interchangeable

In two words: it’s the right sport tourer for covering miles, not a bike to customize. If two-up touring isn’t a priority and you want something more agile, the MT-09 has the same engine in naked form; if you’re looking for the same type of bike while spending less, including A2 license compatibility, the Tracer 7 serves the same purpose.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Tracer 900 and Tracer 9 the same bike?

No. From 2021, the frame, bodywork, and instrumentation changed: tank stickers, films, and dashboard protection have different codes. In 2025, another revision arrived with its own codes.

Why protect the side cases?

Because on the GT they are painted to match and are opened and loaded at every stop. Marks appear after just a few trips and affect resale value.

Do MT-09 accessories fit the Tracer 9?

Almost none of the catalogued ones: the tank stickers and instrument protection have dedicated Tracer codes because the bodywork and dashboard are different.

What’s the difference between the GT and GT Plus?

The GT Plus adds radar with adaptive cruise control and other electronic upgrades. For accessories, the difference is the year: from 2025, the codes for films and stickers change.

Can it handle a trip for two with luggage?

It’s what it’s designed for. With the standard luggage and semi-active suspension, just change the setting from the dashboard when you load a passenger and luggage.
