Everything you need to know before ordering

Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.

Description Barkbusters 10 ohm LED-RES-001 resistors for LED turn signals

The LED-RES-001 is a pair of 10-ohm resistors that brings the flashing frequency of the Barkbusters LED-001 LED indicators back within the standard range.

Why LED indicators flash too quickly

LEDs draw much less current than bulbs. The motorcycle's flasher relay is calibrated for the original current draw and interprets the lower draw as a burned-out bulb: to signal this, it doubles the flashing speed. The resistor restores the current draw expected by the electrical system, bringing the frequency back to the correct level.

The manufacturer specifies the reference value: 90 flashes per minute, with a tolerance of plus or minus 30. In practice, that means one to two flashes per second.

Buy it only if needed

It is not a mandatory component: it depends on your motorcycle's electrical system. The manufacturer lists it as optional. The sensible approach is to install the indicators, test them, and order the resistor only if they clearly flash too quickly.

Only for the amber indicators

The manufacturer is explicit: these resistors are to be used ONLY with the LED-001 indicators. The LED-002 position lights remain on continuously and do not flash, so there is no frequency to correct.

Installation

The resistors have ready-to-use connectors: they plug into the electrical branch of each indicator, with no cutting or soldering. They heat up during operation, so they must be positioned away from plastics, cables, and components sensitive to heat.

What's included

  • Two 10-ohm resistors with connectors, one for each side.

What's NOT included

  • The LED-001 LED indicators, which are a separate item.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100 and in Europe on orders over €250, returns within 14 days, and support in Italian. If you have installed the indicators and are not sure whether the frequency is correct, contact us before ordering.

Why choose it
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

Buy it only if you need it

  • Install the turn signals, test them: if they flash at the correct rate, you don't need this part.
The piece you buy afterward, not before

The piece you buy afterward, not before

The manufacturer lists it as optional, and it depends on your motorcycle's electrical system. Install the LED-001 turn signals and test them: if they flash between one and two times per second, everything is fine and you don't need this part. If they are clearly faster, you need these two 10-ohm resistors, with connectors ready to plug in.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

What is this resistor used for?

To bring the flashing rate of the Barkbusters LED-001 LED turn signals back to normal when they flash too quickly after installation. These are two 10-ohm resistors, one for each side.

Why do LED turn signals flash too quickly?

Because they draw much less current than bulbs. The motorcycle's flasher relay is calibrated for the current draw of the original bulbs and interprets the lower draw as a burned-out bulb; to signal this, it doubles the flashing rate. The resistor restores the current draw expected by the electrical system.

Do I have to buy it together with the turn signals?

Not necessarily. The manufacturer lists it as optional: it depends on your motorcycle’s electrical system. The sensible approach is to install the turn signals, test them, and purchase the resistor only if it’s really needed.

How do I know if the frequency is correct?

The manufacturer specifies a precise value: the reference frequency is 90 flashes per minute, with a tolerance of plus or minus 30. In practice, that means one to two flashes per second. If the turn signals flash clearly faster after installation, the resistor is needed.

Does it also work for white sidelights?

No, and the manufacturer is explicit: they are to be used ONLY with the LED-001 amber turn signals. The LED-002 white position lights remain on and do not flash, so there is no frequency to correct.

How many are needed?

One per side, and the package contains two: one kit is enough for a pair of arrows.

Should I cut or solder the wires?

No. The resistors have connectors ready to plug in, with no cutting or soldering.

What value does the resistor have?

Ten ohms each. This is the value declared by the manufacturer for its LED turn signals.

Are the arrows included?

No. This kit contains only the two resistors. The LED indicators are code LED-001, sold separately.

Can I use it with LED turn signals from another brand?

The manufacturer specifies them only for its own LED-001. We do not extend their use to other brands: the correct value depends on the turn signals' power consumption and the motorcycle's electrical system.

Where should it be mounted on the motorcycle?

On the electrical branch of each turn signal, according to the enclosed official instructions. The resistors heat up during operation, so they must be positioned away from plastics, cables, and heat-sensitive components.

I kept the original turn signals and added the LED ones: do I need the same thing?

Probably not. If the original bulb turn signals remain connected, the overall power draw stays high and the flasher works normally. The problem arises when LEDs replace the bulbs. The practical test is still the deciding factor: if they flash at the correct rate, nothing else is needed.
