Description Barkbusters BTC-06 handlebar clamp set for tapered handlebars

The BTC-06 is Barkbusters' multi-fit clamp set for tapered handlebars: the parts that clamp onto the handlebar, plus the connectors, bar-end weights, and hardware.

It is not a mounting kit

The manufacturer states this explicitly: no aluminum bar and no protective plastics. It is a component, not a complete system.

If you are starting from scratch with a tapered handlebar, you need the BHG-002 mounting kit, or a complete handguard.

Why the connectors are interchangeable

On a tapered handlebar, the diameter changes along the bar, so the point where the clamp fits correctly is not always the same from one bike to another. Swapping the right connector with the left one moves the clamp onto the correct section of the taper and provides the proper fit. That is what makes the BTC-06 a multi-fit.

Shaped around cables

The manufacturer states that the profile is designed to curve around control cables and hoses instead of crushing them: useful on crowded handlebars, where a full-section clamp would not fit.

  • Replacement. You have damaged or lost a clamp and want to put your existing system back into service.
  • Adaptation. You have changed the bike's handlebar and need the tapered-handlebar clamp to match the bar you already have.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha un manubrio conico e deve sostituire o adattare i morsetti di un sistema Barkbusters che possiede già.

A chi ha un manubrio affollato di cavi, dove serve un morsetto sagomato che non li schiacci.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi parte da zero: serve il kit di montaggio BHG-002, oppure un paramano completo. E nemmeno per i manubri con sezione dritta da 28,5 mm come il Renthal Twin Wall, dove serve il BTC-00.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-BTC-06 sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Verifica che il manubrio sia conico e che il diametro interno del tubo sia da 14 mm.
  2. Rimuovi i contrappesi originali e, se necessario, i morsetti precedenti.
  3. Appoggia il morsetto sulla sezione conica e valuta dove stringe meglio. Se non trovi la posizione corretta, inverti il connettore destro con il sinistro e riprova.
  4. Verifica che cavi e tubazioni passino nel profilo del morsetto senza essere schiacciati.
  5. Inserisci il terminale nell estremità aperta del manubrio, fissa la barra in alluminio al morsetto e al terminale, poi serra.
  6. Verifica il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto prima di partire, poi ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Frenafiletti di media resistenza su tutti i fissaggi. Il produttore considera il montaggio dei paramani un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza, da affidare a un tecnico se non hai dimestichezza.

What exactly does this kit contain?

Is this all I need to install the handguards on my motorcycle?

No. This is not a complete mounting kit: it is only the part that clamps onto the handlebar. The aluminum bar and plastic parts are also needed.

So what is it for?

To replace the clamps on a Barkbusters system you already have, or to adapt a bar you own to a tapered handlebar, for example after changing the motorcycle’s handlebar.

What does it mean that the connectors are interchangeable?

It's the feature that makes this clamp multi-fit. My handlebars have a lot of cables: is there enough space?

That is why this clamp has this shape. The manufacturer states that the profile is designed to go around control cables and hoses instead of crushing them.

How can I tell if my handlebar is tapered?

A tapered handlebar widens toward the center: the clamping area on the plate is thicker, while the ends where the grips go remain 22 mm. If the diameter is uniform along the entire length, the handlebar is straight, so the BSC-STD is required.

I have a Renthal Twin Wall or a VSBar: is that okay?

No. Those handlebars have a straight 28.5 mm section and require the BTC-00, not this code.

My handlebar has a different inner diameter than 14 mm: will it fit?

The BTC-06 includes a single terminal size for an internal diameter of 14 mm. If your tube has a different internal diameter, contact us before ordering.

What do I need to buy if I’m starting from scratch?

Not this one. If you don’t have anything yet, it’s better to get a complete mounting kit like the BHG-002 for tapered handlebars, which already includes bars, clamps, and hardware, or go straight for a complete handguard.

I broke a clamp while climbing: can I buy just this one?

Yes, and that’s one of the reasons it exists. Replace the damaged part and keep the bar and plastics.

Should I remove the counterweights?

Yes, because the system also anchors to the end of the handlebar using the included bar-end weights. The Barkbusters replacement for the bar-end weights is code B-066, listed in the catalog.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
