Description BMW R 1300 GS and Adventure brake caliper guard | anodized aluminum pair, also protects the ABS sensor

On the R 1300 GS, the front brake caliper sits directly in the path of whatever the wheel throws up: gravel, sand, and asphalt fragments. You don't need to crash to damage it; a stretch of unpaved road at speed is enough.

The CKQ151TG is a pair of aluminum-alloy guards, one for each side, shaped to shield the brake caliper and the ABS sensor area. The sensor is the more exposed of the two and the more expensive to replace: if it is damaged, the warning light comes on and the ABS is deactivated.

How it is made

  • High-strength aluminum alloy, with an anodized finish in the titanium-gray color specified by the manufacturer.
  • Central window and vents: LOBOO presents these as an air duct that accelerates airflow over the caliper, so the guard does not enclose the brake area. The window leaves the BMW lettering on the caliper visible.
  • Non-destructive installation, with no drilling or permanent modifications to the motorcycle.

What you need to install it

The package contains the two guards, left and right, and threadlocker. No new screws are included: the guard is secured by reusing the two original caliper screws, which the manual specifies must be retightened to BMW's 38 N·m torque setting. There are three steps, identical on both sides, and the manufacturer provides an installation video.

The work involves the brake-caliper mounting screws: if you are not familiar with this area, have it installed by a qualified technician.

Which motorcycles it fits

The manufacturer lists the BMW R 1300 GS from 2023, R 1300 GS Adventure from 2024, and R 1300 RT from 2025. Despite the CKQ151TG designation, it is not limited to the Adventure version.

Weight and dimensions are not provided by any LOBOO source for this code; we prefer to say so rather than estimate them.

Most protectors on the market cover only the brake caliper. The CKQ151TG protects two components: the brake caliper and the ABS sensor area, which is the most vulnerable and the most expensive to replace.

A damaged sensor means a warning light comes on and the ABS is disabled—a failure disproportionate to the cost of this protector.

The plate is not solid: it has a central window and three slots, which the manufacturer presents as an air duct to accelerate airflow over the caliper.

This is why the guard does not hinder the cooling of the system: aluminum, by its nature, dissipates heat better than a closed shield.

No new hardware and no drilling: the guard slides under the two original caliper mounting bolts, which are retightened with the supplied threadlocker to BMW’s original torque of 38 N·m.

Which BMW R 1300 models does it fit?

The LOBOO product label and technical panels list three motorcycles: BMW R 1300 GS from 2023, R 1300 GS Adventure from 2024, and R 1300 RT from 2025. Despite the CKQ151TG designation, it is not reserved solely for the Adventure version.

A transparency note: the installation manual identifies the document as applying only to the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure because it predates the RT’s release. If you have an R 1300 RT, write to us before purchasing and we will have the manufacturer confirm coverage.

What exactly is in the package?

Three items, according to the manual: the left guard, the right guard, and a tube of threadlocker. Plus the assembly manual in eight languages, with the QR code for the manufacturer's video.

There are no new screws or tools: the guard is secured by reusing the two original caliper screws. It is sold as a pair, so there is no need to order two packages.

Does it protect only the caliper, or the ABS sensor as well?

Both. The protection is two-component: it shields both the brake caliper and the ABS sensor, which is the more vulnerable of the two and the more expensive to replace if struck by a stone.

Do you need to drill into or modify the motorcycle?

No. The manufacturer states that it can be installed non-destructively, using precisely positioned holes based on the vehicle’s original data: it is screwed on, without drilling or permanent modifications. Once removed, the motorcycle returns to its original condition.

What are the tightening torques?

Just one: 38 N·m on the two caliper mounting bolts, which is the original BMW specification. The manual states that they should not be fully tightened immediately; first complete all adjustments, then perform the final tightening in sequence, using the supplied threadlocker.

Since this concerns securing the brake caliper, if you are not familiar with the procedure, consult a qualified technician.
