Description Barkbusters BHG-112 handguard mounting kit for Honda CT125 and MSX125 Grom, Kawasaki Z125 Pro, and Suzuki V-Strom SX 250

The BHG-112 is the Barkbusters mounting kit for small-displacement bikes: Honda CT125 and MSX125 Grom, Kawasaki Z125 Pro, and Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. It is the aluminum structure that supports the handguards and protects levers, controls, and hands in crashes and standstill tip-overs.

Four bikes, three brands, one code: what matters is not the brand but the handlebar geometry, which is compatible with the same structure on these models.

As with the entire range, the structure and protective plastics are two separate items: here you are purchasing the structure only, with hardware and handlebar weights.

Key features

  • Two-point mounting — anchoring at the handlebar end plus a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection.
  • Heat-treated aluminum bar, with a wraparound design and natural aluminum finish.
  • Handlebar weights included — they do not need to be purchased separately.
  • Shaped clamps, sized for the limited space on a small bike's handlebar.
  • Interchangeable plastics — compatible with JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, each sold separately.
  • Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd.

Protection and use

With a small bike, it is tempting to save money on accessories. The problem is that a lever, mirror, or switchgear costs almost as much as one for a large bike, and on a CT125 used in the countryside or a Grom ridden in the city every day, low-speed falls and parking tip-overs are much more common.

The two-point mounting is what Barkbusters specifically designs for this purpose: the aluminum bar forms a cage around the hand and transfers the impact to the structure instead of the lever. The single-point configuration, the other setup in the range, is specified by the manufacturer only for protection from wind and weather.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum structure, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact-absorption capacity. The design is wraparound: it starts at the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand, and closes at the end.

Compatibility

Brand Model Years Barkbusters code
Honda CT125 2020 onward BHG-112-NP
Honda MSX125 Grom 2014-2020 BHG-112-NP
Kawasaki Z125 Pro 2016 onward BHG-112-NP
Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 2023 onward BHG-112-NP

Compatibility declared by Barkbusters for bikes in original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars may have different diameters and wall thicknesses: mounting must be verified before purchase. Unsure about your model? Contact us, specifying the model and year.

Attention Grom owners. It is the only one of the four models with an upper limit: the declared compatibility ends in 2020. The bike was redesigned from 2021 onward, and the manufacturer does not list it for this code.

Installation

Installs on the original handlebar, with no drilling or modifications to the bike. The stock handlebar weights must be removed because the structure anchors directly to the handlebar ends, and the weights supplied in the kit are used in their place.

Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interference. On small bikes, it is also worth checking that the handguards do not touch the tank or fairing with the steering fully turned. Check the tightening again after the first 50 km. The complete procedure and warnings are provided in the official INS-BHG-112-NP instructions, attached to this product page in the Manufacturer documents section.

What is included

  • Two heat-treated aluminum bars
  • Clamps for the straight section of the handlebar
  • Complete mounting hardware
  • Handlebar weights

What is NOT included

  • Protective plastics. They must be selected and ordered separately from the JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON series. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
  • LED lights and other accessories in the range, which remain separate items.

Why choose Barkbusters

Barkbusters is a Rideworx Pty Ltd brand, an Australian company that has designed and manufactured motorcycle handguards since 1984. The range is built around a precise concept: the structure is bike-specific, while the plastics are universal within the system. You buy the correct structure once and then choose the protection you need, replacing it if it is damaged in a fall or if your type of use changes, without replacing everything.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Endurrad offers accessories for touring, adventure, and enduro motorcycles: compatibility verified against the manufacturer's documentation, official instructions attached to the product page, and assistance before purchase if your model is unclear. Free shipping in Italy over €100 and in Europe over €250, returns within 14 days, and a 1-year warranty. See the full Barkbusters range.

Why choose it
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.
  • Quattro plastiche compatibili. JET, VPS, STORM e CARBON, intercambiabili negli anni sulla stessa struttura.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

Small in engine size, not in protection

  • On the minis, the lever costs as much as on a maxi, and it breaks much more often.
Structure only, including counterweights

Structure only, including counterweights

What you see is the complete kit: two heat-treated aluminum bars, the clamps, the hardware, and the handlebar bar-end weights. A single part number covers four motorcycles from three brands because they share the same handlebar geometry. The plastics are selected separately from JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON.

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The clamp closes around the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls. On small motorcycles, there is little space between the switchgear and levers, which is why a universal kit often does not fit: this clamp is shaped to fit there.

The first point: the end of the handlebar

The first point: the end of the handlebar

The bar anchors inside the end of the handlebar, replacing the original bar end weight. Replacement bar end weights are included in the kit: the standard ones must be removed and kept, as they are no longer needed.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. Here you purchase only the aluminum frame with the hardware and counterweights. The JET, VPS, STORM, or CARBON plastics are ordered separately, remain interchangeable on the same frame, and can be changed to a different color even years later.

I have a 2022 MSX125 Grom: is this kit suitable?

No. For this code, the manufacturer states compatibility with the MSX125 Grom from 2014 to 2020. From 2021 onward, the Grom was redesigned and compatibility is not stated: it is the only one of the four models with an upper limit, so it is best to check this before ordering. Write to us and we’ll verify.

My model is listed in the table, but the year isn’t: can I still install it?

No, compatibility cannot be inferred. Each model has its own range specified by the manufacturer: send us the model and registration year, and we’ll verify the correct code before you order.

Does the same kit fit a CT125 and a Z125 Pro?

Yes, and the manufacturer is the one stating it. What matters is not the brand but the handlebar geometry and the space around the controls: on these four motorcycles, they are compatible with the same structure and the same hardware.

Are the handlebar counterweights included?

Yes, the manufacturer states that they are included with this code. The motorcycle's standard bar-end weights must be removed because the structure attaches precisely to the end of the handlebar, and the supplied ones are installed in their place.

Does it make sense to spend this much on a 125cc motorcycle?

A lever, an electrical switch block, or a mirror costs almost as much as on a large motorcycle, and on a 125 used in the city or taken off-road, they fall over much more often. It is an expense that pays for itself the first time it prevents a rollover, and the structure remains on the motorcycle even when the plastics are replaced.

What protective plastics can I mount on this structure?

Four series declared by the manufacturer: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON made of carbon fiber. On small motorcycles, JET is the most proportionate choice. EGO models are not compatible.

Does the handlebar need to be modified? What if it’s aftermarket?

No modifications are required for the original handlebar: it mounts using the supplied hardware. Barkbusters states compatibility only for motorcycles in their original factory configuration, and the handlebar is often changed on these motorcycles: in that case, the mounting must be checked before purchase.

What is the difference between two attachment points and a single point?

These are two configurations that the manufacturer distinguishes and does not combine. The two attachment points, as in this kit, secure the bar both at the end of the handlebar and to the straight section, and are intended for impact protection. The single attachment point is intended only for protection from wind and the elements.

What exactly is included in the package?

The two heat-treated aluminum bars, clamps, complete hardware, and handlebar counterweights. There are no protective plastic parts: they are the item to pair with.

Why not a universal kit, which costs less?

Because space on a small motorcycle’s handlebar is limited: the clamp must fit between the switch housings, levers, and mirrors without interfering, and the bar must be the right length. It’s precisely on mini bikes that a universal kit causes the most problems. It remains the right choice if the handlebar is no longer the original one.

Are assembly instructions available?

Yes. The official Barkbusters INS-BHG-112-NP instructions are attached to this product page in the Manufacturer Documents section, with assembly sequence and warnings.
