The LOBOO BTB10 tank bag starts at 4.5 liters and expands to 6.5 liters by opening the expansion zipper. Its profile stays low and does not interfere with riding or full-lock steering maneuvers.

It rests and attaches by itself

The attachment is magnetic to a tank ring: bring the bag close to the ring and the magnets guide it into position at four points, where mechanical clips hold it in place. To detach it, simply lift it. No straps to tighten under the seat and no bands that mark the paint over time.

This is the detail customers mention most often in reviews, and in practice it is the difference between removing the bag at the gas station in two seconds and fumbling with four buckles.

Choose the ring based on your motorcycle

The mounting ring screws onto the fuel-cap mounting points and is specific to each motorcycle family: it is not included with the bag and must be purchased separately. This is the most important check before ordering, because the bag cannot be mounted without the ring.

Pay attention to models that have two different caps depending on the trim, such as the Honda NX 400 and NX 500 with 5- or 7-hole rings: count the bolts on the cap before ordering.

Eleven centimeters of adjustment

The quick-release base slides back and forth over an 11 cm range: lift the mounting buckle, move the base where needed, and close it again, without tools. This adjustment solves the most common problem with tank bags: if the handlebar touches the bag at full lock, move the base back a few centimeters instead of giving up on the bag.

The lid is reinforced and keeps its shape even when the bag is full, so it does not collapse onto the tank. Inside, there is a pocket under the lid for separating documents, keys, and small tools. The SBS zipper pulls are sized to be gripped with gloves, including winter gloves, and the base is nonslip with reflective inserts on the sides.

2520D ballistic nylon

The fabric is double-thread 2520D ballistic nylon, with a stated composition of 53% nylon and 47% polyurethane: this is the weave used where abrasion resistance matters, and on a bag that rests on the tank and rubs against your jacket and knees, that is exactly what you need.

Rain

The fabric is water-repellent and handles riding in the rain without problems. For prolonged bad weather, the package includes a one-piece rain cover: it slips over the bag without elastic straps to attach at four points. The fabric alone is not waterproof when submerged, so the cover should be fitted during a storm—and fitted before the rain starts coming down heavily.

Which one to choose from the range

All LOBOO tank bags use the same magnetic attachment on a ring: none attaches with straps. The volume and base type vary. The 2.5–3.5 L BTB05 has a fixed base and can be carried as a waist bag; the 10 L BTB12 and 7–9 L BTB15 share the sliding base used by this model. If you already have the ring installed, you can move any of these bags onto the same motorcycle.

The magnetic attraction works at four points: bring the bag close to the base and it aligns itself, so you don't have to center it by eye while wearing gloves. However, the magnet is not what holds it in place.

Underneath, there is a dual-locking structure with mechanical clips at the four corners of the base: those provide the actual retention. The magnet guides the attachment, while the clips ensure that the bag stays where it is even on rough terrain.

To mount it, place it on the adapter base and the magnetic system does the rest: one second. To detach it, pull the quick-release system’s auxiliary strap and lift: two seconds.

These are the figures stated by LOBOO, but the practical benefit is clear: at the gas station, you can remove the bag without getting off the motorcycle or undoing anything. It’s the difference you notice by the third refueling of the day.

The quick-release base slides back and forth across an 11 cm range. Lift the fastening buckle, move the magnetic base to where you need it, and close the buckle again: the bag changes position on the tank without tools.

This adjustment solves the most common problem with tank bags. After installation, turn the handlebars fully to both sides: if they make contact, move the base back a few centimetres instead of giving up on the bag.

The expansion is not a bellows that distorts the bag: it is a lower section that opens with a dedicated zipper and adds two liters, increasing the volume from 4.5 to 6.5. When closed, it stays low and compact; when open, it gains height where it does not get in the way.

The operation is reversible at any time, even while the bag is mounted. For everyday use, keep it closed; on the day of departure, open it.

The fabric is 2520D double-filament ballistic nylon: it’s the weave used when abrasion resistance matters, and on a bag that rests on the tank and rubs against your jacket and knees, it’s exactly what you need. The stated composition is 53% nylon and 47% polyurethane.

The sides feature highly reflective inserts. They don’t replace a reflective vest, but they provide extra luminous surface right at the height of the headlights of oncoming drivers.

The cover is a single piece, with a waterproof coating on the underside and rubber strips that seal out water. It slips over the bag and that’s it: no elastic straps to hook onto four points while it’s raining.

The zippers are customized SBS zippers—the kind that don’t start sticking after one season. The bag alone can handle rain while riding; for a downpour, there’s the cover, and it should be put on before the rain starts coming down hard.

Circular ring: the most common mounting method

Remove the original cap screws, insert the supplied aluminum bushings, position the ring with the opening facing toward the rear of the motorcycle, and screw it back on. The original trim ring goes back on top, aligning the holes.

It only takes a few minutes, requires no drilling, and is fully reversible. Install it once and leave it in place: from then on, the bag attaches in one second.

On some motorcycles, the screw ring around the cap isn’t circular, so LOBOO makes shaped rings that follow its profile. The sequence doesn’t change: remove the original screws, place the aluminum bushings in their positions, put the ring on top, and screw it back on.

The magnetic attachment to the bag is identical across the entire range; only the side facing the tank changes.

There is also a base with 3M adhesive for caps where it is best not to touch the hardware. Degrease the cap with an alcohol-soaked cotton pad, align the three reference points printed on the base, and press.

No screws to undo, but cleaning the surface becomes the crucial part: the adhesive is what bears the load.

The ring remains screwed to the tank cap even when the bag is not attached. It is a flat black element that follows the profile of the original ring and does not obstruct refueling.

If you want a completely clean-looking motorcycle when you are not using the bag, this is the compromise to consider. Installation remains reversible: reinstall the original screws and the motorcycle returns to its original state.

Installation and notes

  • The bag is secured to a ring that screws into points around the fuel cap. The ring is specific to each motorcycle family and is not included with the bag.
  • After installation, turn the handlebars to full lock on both sides, with the bag closed and then expanded, and check that there is no contact.
  • The fabric is water-repellent but not waterproof when submerged, and the zippers are not watertight: for prolonged bad weather, attach the included rain cover.
  • Do not exceed a load that alters the stability of the front end and periodically check the tightness of the ring screws.

It's the right choice if:

  • You already have a LOBOO tank ring installed, or are willing to install it just once
  • You want a low-profile design that doesn't interfere with riding, with the ability to expand
  • You use your motorcycle for both commuting and ADV travel
  • You have a plastic tank where a classic magnetic tank bag won't hold

Important:The tank ring is not included and must be chosen according to your motorcycle's fuel cap. This applies to the entire LOBOO tank bag range: none of these bags are strap-mounted. If you need more space, the BTB15 offers up to 9 liters with the same mounting system.

How is it fastened: with straps or a ring?

With a ring-lock ring, attached to the tank’s mounting points. The rings are a separate accessory and should be selected based on your motorcycle’s fuel cap; you can find them on the Loboo tank bag rings page.

How does the magnetic attachment work?

Bring the bag close to the ring already mounted on the tank, and the magnets guide it into position by themselves: you don’t have to center it by eye. Once in place, the locking mechanism holds it mechanically, so the attachment does not rely on the magnet.

To detach it, simply lift it. In practice, this means removing the bag at the gas station in a couple of seconds instead of fumbling with four buckles in the rain.

Do magnets damage the tank’s paint?

No, because the magnets work against the metal ring, not the tank: the bag does not rest directly on the paint as a traditional magnetic bag would. The base is also non-slip and non-abrasive.

That is also why this system is preferable to straps: there are no straps running under the seat that can mark the side panels over time.

Does it also work on plastic tanks?

Yes. The magnetic attachment does not occur on the tank itself but on the ring, which is mechanically secured to the fuel cap mounting points: the tank material is therefore irrelevant, whether metal or plastic.

That is the key difference compared with classic magnetic bags, which simply will not stay on a motorcycle with a plastic tank.

How big is it really? What fits inside?

Closed, it holds 4.5 liters: wallet, documents, keys, phone, a pair of lightweight gloves, and a snack bar. Open the perimeter zipper to expand it to 6.5 liters, with room for a lightweight rain jacket or a compact camera.

It’s not a travel bag: it’s designed for the things you want close at hand without opening your luggage. The expansion is reversible, so you can keep it compact for everyday use and open it only when you travel.
