This is where it differs from just any skid plate: the plate is not attached only to the frame, but is also anchored to the lower bar with additional mounting points.

LOBOO states that this increases the rigidity of the assembly and distributes the impact instead of concentrating it on a few mounting points. That is why the two parts are often purchased together.

On the side of the engine guard, there are nylon and silicone sliders that absorb the impact in a fall. They are the part that wears out, and they are designed to do so.

The manufacturer states that they can be replaced individually: after a slide, you replace the marked slider instead of throwing away an entire engine guard.

The bars extend the protection upward and create useful space where there was none before: you can mount auxiliary lights or a paramotor bag for tools.

The skid plate is made from 4 mm high-strength anodized aluminum alloy. On gravel roads, that is the thickness separating a bouncing stone from a punctured oil pan—and from a trip ending wherever you happen to be.

The CNC-machined perforated design allows air to flow through, so the guard does not trap engine heat.

The plate’s mounting points feature shock-absorbing rubber pads. They are not merely aesthetic: a plate rigidly bolted to the frame transmits every impact and, over time, puts stress on the holes.

LOBOO states that they reduce the transmitted impact force, as well as the metallic noise produced by bare sheet metal on uneven surfaces.

On gravel roads, damage rarely comes from a fall: it comes from stones kicked up by the front wheel, which repeatedly strike the engine base over many kilometers.

The plate covers the exposed area and deflects the gravel, preventing the engine casing from taking repeated impacts.

The screw seats are formed during molding and remain recessed in the plate, below the surface that touches the ground. The heads do not protrude and do not take the impact.

It is a detail you appreciate on disassembly day: a screw with a hex socket damaged by scraping can only be removed by cutting it.

LOBOO states that no modifications to the original vehicle are needed: the structure bolts onto the mounting points already provided on the frame, with no drilling or cutting.

On a motorcycle you plan to resell, that is the difference between an accessory and a permanent modification: it can be removed without leaving a trace.
