Description LOBOO CHG421 Crash Bars for Suzuki V-Strom 800DE | 304 stainless steel, upper and lower bars

The CHG421 is LOBOO’s crash bar system for the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE from 2024 onward, made of 304 stainless steel with Ø 25 mm tubing and a 2 mm wall thickness. In the manual, the code is CHG421SX and the official name is Upper and Lower Crash Bar: it is not one bar, but four.

Two upper bars work at the height of the fairings and radiator side panels, while two lower bars descend to cover the engine casing. On the 800DE, the V-Strom designed to leave the asphalt, these are precisely the points that make first contact in a stationary fall or a low-speed slide.

It is available in two finishes that change only its appearance: blasted silver, with the stainless steel exposed, or black with an electrostatic coating. The codes are CHG421SL for silver and CHG421BK for black; the material, dimensions, and mounting points are identical. 304 stainless steel withstands rain, mud, and water crossings, which matters more on this motorcycle than on others.

Installation uses the frame’s original mounting points and requires no drilling, cutting, or modifications. The manual describes six steps, identical on both sides, and instructs you to complete all adjustments first and tighten everything in sequence only at the end: 22 N·m for the M8 bolts and 10 N·m for the M6 bolts. It is available in eight languages, including Italian, and can be downloaded from this product page.

The package contains everything needed: the parts list includes 13 items covering the four bars, M6 and M8 hardware with washers and nuts, and an installation wrench. LOBOO has provided dedicated mounting points on the bars for auxiliary lights or fog lights; the lights and their brackets are not included, and they appear in the manufacturer’s images for illustrative purposes only.

A crash bar reduces damage from a fall; it does not eliminate it. LOBOO does not publish load tests for this code, so we do not claim any impact-resistance thresholds. It also does not state the weight or overall dimensions, which we can verify in stock upon request. Endurrad is a retailer, not the manufacturer.

Why choose it
  • 304 Stainless Steel Rust-proof: Never worry about corrosion again. Whether you choose Sandblasted Silver or Powder Coated Black, the base material is high-quality stainless steel that resists rain, mud and
  • 25mm Reinforced Tubes: We don't use thin tubes. These bars feature a massive 25mm diameter with a 2mm wall thickness. This ensures superior structural integrity to effectively absorb the
  • Integrated Light Mounts: Save on additional mounts. The bars feature reserved mounting points specifically designed for auxiliary fog lights, keeping your setup clean and professional.
  • Full Coverage: The design extends to protect critical areas: the engine casings, radiator side panels, and upper fairings, minimizing repair costs after a fall.
Who is it recommended for

Ideal for travel, adventure, and light off-road use, where a low-speed fall can damage fairings and the engine.

Four bars, not one: high and low together

Four bars, not one: high and low together

The official name in the LOBOO manual is Upper and Lower Crash Bar. Two upper bars protect the fairings and side radiator panels, while two lower bars extend downward to cover the engine casing.

On the 800DE, which is genuinely built for off-road riding, these are the three points that make contact first when the bike falls over.

304 stainless steel, Ø 25 mm tube with a 2 mm wall. Stainless steel does not rust where the paint chips, and on a motorcycle that goes through water and mud, the difference becomes apparent after the first winter.

LOBOO does not publish load tests for this part number, so we do not state strength thresholds: a crash bar reduces damage; it does not eliminate it.

Assemble it in six steps, without drilling anything

Assemble it in six steps, without drilling anything

The manual describes six steps, making it the quickest installation in the LOBOO crash bar range. Installation is identical on both sides: once you understand the first, the second is straightforward.

It attaches to the frame’s original mounting points without drilling, cutting, or modifications. Once removed, the V-Strom returns exactly to its original condition.

22 N·m for the M8 bolts, 10 N·m for the M6 bolts. LOBOO indicates that they should not be fully tightened during assembly: first, position all the bars and complete the adjustments, then tighten them in sequence.

The manual is available in eight languages, including Italian, includes an installation video accessible via QR code, and can be downloaded from this page.

Check the model: only V-Strom 800DE from 2024

The LOBOO manual and product page specify only the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE from 2024 onward.

The other V-Strom models, from the 650 to the 1050DE, have different chassis and use different codes: if you have one of those, write to us and we’ll point you to the right model instead of selling you this one.

The bars have pre-drilled mounting points for auxiliary lights or fog lights, so there’s no need for universal clamps tightened around the tube, risking rotation at the first pothole.

The lights and their dedicated mounts are not included: they appear in the LOBOO images for illustrative purposes only. The exact hole diameter has not been published, so if you’ve already chosen your lights, write to us and we’ll verify the measurement on the actual part before you place your order.

Choose black or silver: it only changes the appearance

Choose black or silver: it only changes the appearance

The silver is bead-blasted 304 stainless steel, left exposed. The black is electrostatically powder-coated and blends in with the dark plastics.

The material, dimensions, geometry, and mounts are identical: only the codes differ, CHG421SL and CHG421BK.

Consider the three zones that support first

Consider the three zones that support first

Engine guard, radiator side panels, and the upper fairings. On the 800DE, these are the components most likely to hit the ground first in a stationary tip-over or low-speed slide—and also the most expensive to replace.

That’s why the kit has bars at two levels instead of just one.

For this code, the manufacturer does not publish the weight, overall dimensions, or load test results. We do not invent or estimate them.

Add inflatable bags to your crash bars

Add inflatable bags to your crash bars

The bars you’re about to install do more than just protect: they’re already the ready-made mounting points for LOBOO Wanderer inflatable bags. A pair of 6-liter bags, each waterproof to IPX7, with keyed anti-theft locks and a stated capacity of 300 kg per inflated bag.

They inflate when you set off and deflate when you return: carry what you need without installing frames or leaving permanent bulk along the side of the motorcycle. Make use of the Ø 25 mm tube you already have and go fully equipped.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Which motorcycles is the CHG421 mounted on?

The LOBOO manual and product page state compatibility with the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE from 2024 onward. The other V-Strom models, from the 650 to the 1050DE, are not listed and use different part numbers: if you have one of those, contact us and we’ll point you to the correct model.

How many bars are in the kit?

Quattro. The official name in the manual is Upper and Lower Crash Bar: two upper bars protect the fairings and side radiator panels, while two lower bars extend downward to cover the engine casing. It is a complete kit, not just the upper section.

What exactly does it protect?

Three areas: the engine casing, the radiator’s side panels, and the upper fairings. These are the points that make contact first when the motorcycle tips over while stationary or slides at low speed, which is also why the kit has bars on two levels instead of just one.

What do I find in the package?

The manual’s parts list includes 13 items: four bars, two 50 mm M8 screws, four 25 mm M8 screws, two 20 mm M6 screws, two 16 mm M6 screws, four M6 washers, two M6 self-locking nuts, five M8 washers, and an assembly wrench. Nothing needs to be purchased separately.

Do you need to drill or modify the motorcycle?

No. The bars attach to the frame’s original mounting points, with no drilling, cutting, or modifications: once removed, the V-Strom returns exactly to its original condition.

How difficult is the assembly?

The manual describes six steps and is among the quickest in the range. Installation is identical on both sides of the motorcycle, so once you understand the first, the second follows naturally. A torque wrench is required for the final tightening.

What torque specifications should I use?

22 N·m for the M8 bolts and 10 N·m for the M6 bolts. LOBOO advises not fully tightening during installation, completing all adjustments first, and tightening in sequence only at the end, as well as periodically checking the tightness. The removed original parts must be reinstalled to Suzuki's specified torque values. The complete manual can be downloaded from this page.

What’s the difference between the black and silver finishes?

Only the appearance differs. The silver is sandblasted 304 stainless steel, left exposed; the black is electrostatically powder-coated. The material, dimensions, geometry, and fittings are identical: only the codes differ, CHG421SL and CHG421BK.

Does stainless steel hold up to mud and water crossings?

That’s why LOBOO uses 304 stainless steel for this part number: it withstands rain, mud, and water crossings, and it won’t rust where the paint chips. On an 800DE, which is genuinely built for off-road riding, that matters more than on a road bike.

Can I mount auxiliary spotlights on it?

Yes: the bars have built-in mounting points for auxiliary or fog lights, so there is no need for universal clamps tightened around the tube. However, neither the lights nor their dedicated mounts are included: the LOBOO images show them for illustrative purposes only. The manufacturer does not publish the exact hole diameter, so if you have already chosen the lights, write to us and we will check the measurement on the actual product before you place your order.

Does a crash bar prevent damage in the event of a fall?

It reduces damage; it does not eliminate it. The bars move the contact point away from the engine casing, radiator, and fairings, but the outcome depends on speed, angle, and surface. LOBOO does not publish load tests for this product code, so we do not state impact-resistance thresholds.

How much does the motorcycle weigh, and how wide is it?

LOBOO does not state either the weight or the added width for this code, not even in the manual, so we do not publish them. If you need them, we can weigh and measure the kit in stock before the order.

Is it necessary to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes, and the manual explicitly asks you to do so. After the first 100–200 km, recheck all the screws at the specified torque values, and repeat the check periodically and after every fall. Also make sure the bars are not deformed or resting against fairings or components.

How do warranty, shipping, and returns work?

24-month legal consumer warranty: LOBOO states 12 months, but Italian law prevails, and we handle the claim with the manufacturer. Tracked shipping is free for orders over €100 in Italy and €250 in Europe. You have 14 days from receipt of the last item in your order to return it, provided the product is intact and in its original packaging.
