Do they really protect the radiator?

They do exactly what the original panels they replace did: shield the radiator’s side area. However, they are not a debris guard and do not replace a protective mesh for the radiator core.If you’re looking for protection from stones coming from the front, you need a radiator grille, which is a different product and is installed together with these.

Do you need to drill or modify the motorcycle?

No. Remove the original panel, put the carbon cover in its place, and reinstall the same screws. Two steps per side, identical on the right and left.It is fully reversible: you can reinstall the stock panels whenever you want, and it is advisable to keep them aside if you plan to resell the motorcycle.

What torque should the screws be tightened to?

LOBOO does not specify its own torque value, because the screws are the motorcycle’s original ones; therefore, the torque specified by BMW for that fastening applies.The manual nevertheless states that they should not be fully tightened immediately: first complete all adjustments, then tighten them in sequence. It also recommends periodically checking the screws.

What's in the package?

According to the manual’s parts list: the left cover and the right cover. On versions with mounts, the two bag supports as well.There is no hardware, and that is not an oversight: you reuse the motorcycle’s original screws, the ones you remove when disassembling the stock panels. Keep them aside while you work.

On the R 1300 GS Adventure, the two panels covering the radiator weigh 416 grams per pair. These carbon-fiber ones weigh 235. That removes 181 grams high up and toward the front, where the weight is felt in the steering, while also giving the bike a new look.

Two versions, and the difference matters

Covers only. They replace the original panels using the motorcycle’s existing screws. This is the aesthetic and weight-saving option.

With bag mounts. The covers are supplemented by two technical-plastic supports that provide mounting points for the 5 L crash-bar bags. They are needed if your Adventure does not have the original mounting slots on the side panel: without them, the bags cannot be fitted.

What changes compared with the standard panels, which version to choose, and how to install it.

416 grams versus 235

LOBOO publishes both figures, not just its own: the original panels for the R 1300 GS Adventure weigh around 416 g per pair, while these carbon-fiber ones weigh 235.

That’s 181 grams, and on their own they don’t change the character of a motorcycle weighing over 200 kg. But they’re positioned high and toward the front, which is where weight is felt most when you turn the handlebars at a standstill or while maneuvering.

The mold is based on the data from the stock panel, so the cover rests where the original did and the holes line up in their proper places.

It’s the difference between a component designed for the bike and an adapted copy: nothing is widened or forced here.

The version that enables bags

Some R 1300 GS Adventure models do not have the mounting slots on the side panel to which the 5 L engine-protection bags attach. Without them, the bags simply cannot be mounted.

The version with mounting brackets solves exactly this issue: it adds two brackets that provide the attachment points. If you are interested in the bags, this is the version to choose.

The bindings are made of technical plastic, not carbon fiber.

The manufacturer states that they are made to OEM standards, using engineering-grade plastic. It is not a compromise: a support that has to carry a loaded bag and absorb vibrations performs better in a material that flexes than in a rigid one like carbon.

The pair of mounts weighs 296 g, so the complete version is not the lightest one: that is where you are paying for the functionality.

Nothing is drilled, and you can go back.

Two steps per side: remove the original panel and install the cover using the same screws. No hardware is included because it isn't needed.

Keep the stock panels: if you ever sell the motorcycle, you can reinstall them in ten minutes and no one will notice that you modified it.

Lucida: carbon is visible

The glossy finish reflects light and highlights the weave's texture. It is the choice for those who want the piece to stand out.

In return, it shows fingerprints and dust a little more, like all glossy surfaces.

Matte: it matches the bike's color tone

The matte one stays closer to the black plastics of the R 1300 GS Adventure: it blends in rather than standing out, and hides dust and fingerprints better.

Apart from a two-gram difference on the scale, the mold, dimensions, and installation are identical to the glossy one. It’s simply a matter of taste.

Real carbon fiber, not a film

The manufacturer states that carbon fiber is the primary material, and the weight indirectly confirms this: 235 g compared with the 416 g of the stock panel cannot be achieved by gluing a film onto plastic.

The weave is visible across the entire surface, not just on the part that can be seen when the motorcycle is stationary.

In the manufacturer’s photos, the bike is fitted with side cases and a top case: those are not included; here you are buying only the pair of covers.

Istruzioni complete e note di sicurezza

Due passaggi per lato, identici a destra e a sinistra. Si smonta il pannello originale svitando le viti che lo tengono, si mette la cover in carbonio al suo posto e si rimontano le stesse viti.

Nessuna foratura e nessuna viteria nuova: nella confezione non c'è perché non serve. Le coppie di serraggio non sono dichiarate dal produttore, quindi vale il valore originale BMW delle viti che rimonti. Il manuale prescrive di non serrare subito a fondo ma di completare prima tutte le regolazioni.

Montaggio e note

Distinta del manuale: cover sinistra x1 e cover destra x1. Nessuna viteria in dotazione.
Due passaggi per lato: si rimuove il pannello originale e si monta la cover riutilizzando le stesse viti.
Le coppie di serraggio non sono dichiarate da LOBOO: vale il valore originale BMW delle viti che rimonti.

What’s the difference between the two versions?

The cover-only version consists of two carbon covers that replace the original panels: reduced weight and improved aesthetics.

The version with mounts adds two technical plastic supports that provide attachment points for the 5 L engine-guard bags. If your goal is the bags, this is the version you need.

How do I know if I need bindings?

Look at your motorcycle’s side panel, above the radiator. If you find two slots cut into the panel, your Adventure already has the original mounting points, and you only need the cover-only version for the panniers.

If those slots aren’t there, you need the version with mounts. If you’re unsure, send us a photo of the side panel and we’ll confirm it before purchase.

Do they fit the standard R 1300 GS?

No. These have been printed on the side panels of the R 1300 GS Adventure since 2024, which have a different shape from those of the R 1300 GS.

For the R 1300 GS, the catalog includes a dedicated carbon-fiber radiator cover, which has a different part number.

How much weight is actually saved?

The manufacturer publishes both figures: the original panels weigh approximately 416 g per pair, while the carbon covers weigh 235 g in the gloss finish and 237 g in the matte finish. That’s 181 grams less.

On a 270 kg motorcycle, that’s little in absolute terms, but it’s weight removed high up and toward the front, where weight is felt most on the steering. If you choose the version with mounts, those add 296 g and the balance reverses: there, you’re buying the function, not the weight reduction.

Glossy or matte: what’s the difference?

Only the surface finish and two grams in weight. The gloss finish reflects light and highlights the carbon weave, while the matte finish better matches the motorcycle’s black plastics and hides dust and fingerprints more effectively.

The mold, dimensions, installation, and compatibility are identical.

Is it real carbon fiber or a film?

The manufacturer states that carbon fiber is the primary material, and the weight figures indirectly confirm this: 235 g compared with the 416 g of the stock panel cannot be achieved with a film applied to plastic.

The mounts on the versions that include them, however, are made of engineering plastic, not carbon fiber.
