Description BMW clutch lever with auxiliary light switch, two lengths included

The CLU081 is a replacement clutch lever for BMW with the auxiliary light switch built into the lever body. It is not a control added to the handlebar: it replaces the stock lever.

The control is where your hand already is

An added switch forces you to search for the button with your eyes or shift your grip, and at night or on difficult terrain, that is the worst time to do it. Here, the dial is semi-recessed into the lever body, and your thumb can reach it without letting go of the handlebar.

What it controls

LOBOO specifies the CLU081 for the L18 auxiliary light. With the key in ACC, the dial switches on the low beam and then the high beam plus low beam; when the light is on, rotate it to cycle through eight brightness levels, and press while rotating to switch from white to yellow light. Double-click to open three emergency modes, while a separate button activates the passing light. The auxiliary light is not included and must be purchased separately.

Two levers and four positions

The package includes two interchangeable levers, a short 200.7 mm one and a long 218 mm one, so you can choose the one that fits your hand best. Reach is adjustable to four positions using the same knob already fitted to your motorcycle. CNC-machined anodized aluminum alloy body, weighing 109 g with the short lever and 114 g with the long one.

Non-destructive installation

The manual specifies six steps: remove the screws, nuts, and mirror and handguard brackets; remove the hardware and adjustment knob from the original lever; reinstall them on the LOBOO lever; and close everything back up. No drilling and no additional hardware for the motorcycle are required. An M4 hex key is included; the manual does not specify torque values.

The switches added to the handlebar force you to look for the button or shift your grip. At night, or when the terrain gets rough, that is the worst time to do it.

Here, the controller is integrated into the clutch-lever collar: your thumb can reach it without letting go of the grip.

The adjustment knob and hardware from the original lever are not discarded: they are removed and reinstalled on the LOBOO lever, which therefore comes with no motorcycle-specific hardware.

With the light on, rotate the dial to scroll through eight brightness levels; press and rotate it to switch from white to yellow and vice versa. The switch’s four LEDs indicate the current level.

Double-click to enter the three emergency modes, with the red indicator flashing. The overtaking light button is separate, always under your thumb.

The lever travel can be adjusted to four positions, using the same knob already on your motorcycle, which is reused during installation.

How to clean it, and what not to do

The manual is explicit: do not aim a pressure washer at the switch. Clean it with a soft cloth, a damp tissue, or a glasses-cleaning cloth, and, if necessary, a neutral detergent. Acids and alkaline products are prohibited.

Accumulated dirt is the typical cause of a ring that turns poorly. The manufacturer's other recommendation is to check the screws periodically.

Do I need to drill or modify the motorcycle?

No. The LOBOO lever is designed based on the original lever’s specifications and replaces it. The manual outlines six steps: remove the screws, nuts, and brackets for the mirrors and handguards; remove the hardware and adjustment knob from the original lever; reinstall them on the LOBOO lever; and put everything back together. No drilling, no cutting, and the installation is reversible.

What will I find in the package?

The lever with the integrated switch and 240 mm cable pre-installed, a second lever of a different length, and an M4 Allen key. The L18 spotlight and its wiring, which are purchased separately, are not included, nor is any motorcycle hardware: the screws, nuts, brackets, and adjustment knob are reused from the original.

Can I assemble it myself?

The manual describes six steps using common tools plus the included Allen key. However, keep in mind that you are working on a steering control: if you are not familiar with this, have it installed by a technician. The manual does not specify torque values, so tighten the screws carefully and check them again after the first few miles.

How much does it weigh?

109 g with the short lever installed and 114 g with the long one. This is the weight of the lever, not the packaging, which also contains the second lever and the wrench.

Can I wash it with a pressure washer?

No: the manufacturer prohibits directing a high-pressure jet at the switch. Use a soft cloth, a damp tissue, or a glasses-cleaning cloth; add a neutral detergent if needed. Never use acidic or alkaline products. Accumulated dirt is the most common cause of a ring that is difficult to turn.

Is the product covered by a warranty?
