Everything you need to know before ordering

Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.

Description Barkbusters TCM-01 steering plate mounting kit

The TCM-01 is Barkbusters' steering-plate mounting kit: uprights, connecting arms, clamps, and hardware for anchoring a handguard to the upper triple clamp instead of the straight section of the handlebar.

It is not a mounting kit

The manufacturer states this explicitly: no aluminum bar and no protective plastic. It is a component.

If you are starting from scratch and want the steering-plate mount, the correct code is BHG-006, which already includes the aluminum bars in addition to this mount.

The handlebar does not matter

That is why it exists. The manufacturer declares it compatible regardless of handlebar size and type, because the anchor points are the clamp bolts of the upper triple clamp, front or side. The package includes clamps for handlebars with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm.

The upright is also height-adjustable, allowing you to position the handguard correctly in relation to the handlebar.

Three stated warnings

  • Not suitable for Husqvarna models from 2013 onward, KTM, and Husaberg. This exclusion is explicitly stated by the manufacturer.
  • Honda XR 250, 400, and 600: the official PDF specifies four 65 mm bolts instead of the supplied 60 mm ones, to provide at least 12 mm of thread engagement. They must be purchased separately.
  • Tightening sequence: the flanged bolt that joins the arm to the upright must be tightened last, after all the parts have been aligned.

What you will find in the package

  • Two uprights to attach to the triple clamp.
  • Right- and left-hand connecting arms.
  • Collars, clamps for 14 and 18 mm internal diameters, and conical nuts.
  • Complete hardware set.

What is NOT included

  • The aluminum bar.
  • The protective plastics.
  • The 65 mm bolts for Honda XR models, when required.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100 and in Europe on orders over €250, returns within 14 days, and support in Italian. If you are not sure whether your triple clamp has the correct bolts, send us a photo before ordering.

Why choose it
  • Regolabile in altezza.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

It is not an assembly kit

  • It is only the plate attachment. If you are starting from scratch, the code is BHG-006, which also includes the bars.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

What exactly does this kit contain?

Two posts to be attached to the plate, the right and left connecting arms, collars, clamps for inner diameters of 14 and 18 mm, conical nuts, and all the hardware. No aluminum bar and no protective plastic.

Is this all I need to install the handguards on my motorcycle?

No. This is only the steering plate mount: the manufacturer explicitly states this. The aluminum bar and plastic parts are also required.

What’s the difference compared with the BHG-006?

The BHG-006 is the complete mounting kit: it includes the aluminum bars as well as the attachment to the plate. The TCM-01 is the attachment only, without bars. If you are starting from scratch, get the BHG-006; if you already have the bars and only need a way to anchor them to the plate, get this one.

How can I tell if my motorcycle has the correct screws on the plate?

Keep the upper triple clamp, the one above the forks: it needs a pair of clamp bolts on the front or sides. If you’re not sure, send us a photo of the area and we’ll tell you whether the kit can be installed.

I have a KTM, Husqvarna, or Husaberg: will it fit?

No. The manufacturer explicitly excludes Husqvarna from 2013 onward, as well as KTM and Husaberg. For those bikes, the options are model-specific kits or a universal kit that works on the handlebar.

I have a Honda XR: are there any particular precautions?

Yes, and the official PDF states this: on the XR 250, 400, and 600, four 65 mm screws are required instead of the supplied 60 mm ones to ensure at least 12 mm of thread engagement. They must be purchased separately from a hardware store.

Do I need handlebars of a specific size?

No, and that is the strong point of this mount: the manufacturer states that it is compatible regardless of handlebar size and type, because the attachment point is the plate. The package includes handlebar clamps with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm.

Can I adjust the height of the handguard?

Yes. The riser can be moved up and down before final tightening, so the handguard can be positioned at the required height relative to the handlebar.

Is there an order to follow when tightening?

Yes, and the official PDF specifies it: position all the pieces aligned with one another and tighten them at the end, leaving the flanged screw that connects the connecting arm to the upright until last.

What do I need to buy if I’m starting from scratch?

Not this alone. You also need at least the aluminum bar and the plastic parts. If you want a ready-made solution with an attachment to the plate, the code is BHG-006, which includes the bars and attachment.

Is it safe to touch the steering plate screws?

Installation replaces the plate's original clamping screws with the supplied ones, so it affects a steering component. This work must be carried out carefully and tightened correctly: if you are not familiar with it, have it installed at a workshop. The manufacturer specifies medium-strength threadlocker on all screws.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes, and especially with this product, because the steering plate screws are involved. Check again after the first 50 km and then regularly.
