What we know today
The 1390 Super Adventure R is the off-road version of KTM's new flagship. Compared with the S, the wheels, suspension and setup change, while the engine is the same: an LC8 twin with CAMSHIFT variable valve timing, which broadens the power delivery without compromising low revs.
As with the S, we publish only verified data. We will add the ready-to-ride weight and seat height once they are confirmed by the official documentation: on a bike this tall, seat height is the factor that most influences the choice, and we do not want to provide an approximate figure.

Frequently asked questions
Is it necessary to buy a skid plate?
No, it's standard on the R version. That's the main advantage of this variant: you can directly mount auxiliary lights and additional protection on the existing structure once the dedicated brackets become available.
Do the 1290 R accessories fit the 1390 R?
Only universal ones. The subframe and bodywork have changed, so the 1290 luggage racks, auxiliary light brackets, and headlight protection are not declared compatible with this motorcycle.
What about those for the 1390 S?
Soft luggage, tank bags, and mirrors: yes. For the luggage racks and headlight protection, we're waiting for manufacturers to publish the part numbers: on the 1290, some were shared by the R/S, but that's not automatically the case.
When will the dedicated luggage racks arrive?
As manufacturers develop them. Tell us which accessory you're interested in and we'll let you know as soon as it's available; in the meantime, semi-rigid strap-on luggage is a solution without waiting.
R or S: which one should you choose?
The R if you ride real off-road: a 21-inch wheel, long-travel suspension, and a skid plate already fitted. The S if you rack up miles on asphalt, with a 19-inch wheel and semi-active suspension.
