Description Original 10 W LED turn signal anti-hyperflash resistors DNLWHS12700

Code DNLWHS12700 — DENALI code DNL.WHS.12700

Pair of load resistors to install when replacing incandescent turn signals with LED indicators. Without them, the turn signals flash at twice the normal rate: the LED draws a fraction of the current used by the bulb, and the motorcycle’s control unit interprets this drop as a burned-out bulb.

These are the version for motorcycles whose original turn signals were rated at 10 W. If they were rated at 21 W, use code DNLWHS12800.

One resistor is required for each replaced turn signal: one package covers a pair, either front or rear.

Why choose it

Documents and manufacturer

How does it work, in detail?

  • They bring the intake to the value the motorcycle’s control unit expects.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

How can I tell whether my turn signals were 10 W or 21 W?

The wattage is printed on the bulb you remove: you’ll find it on the bulb itself or the base. If the bulb has already burned out or is illegible, the value is listed in the motorcycle’s owner’s manual, in the bulb table. If you’re unsure, tell us the motorcycle model and year.

Do I need two or four?

One replacement shock absorber for each spring. If you replace only the two front ones or only the two rear ones, one package is enough; if you replace all four, you need two.

Can I avoid them by using a CANsmart control unit?

In many cases, yes: if the turn signals are controlled by the control unit instead of the motorcycle’s original circuit, the hyperflashing problem does not occur. However, it depends on the model and how you connect them: if you don’t have a CANsmart, resistors are required.
