Protegge la leva dal contatto accidentale. Testata e approvata per la MotoGP.

Everything you need to know before ordering

Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.

Description Barkbusters Aero-GP AGP-001 lever guards for road and track

The Aero-GP AGP-001 is not a handguard: it is a lever guard, meaning the part that prevents accidental activation of the brake or clutch lever. Barkbusters designed it for road and track use and states that it is tested and approved for MotoGP.

The problem it solves

On the track, among other riders, or in tight traffic, accidental contact with the front brake lever can have serious consequences. The Aero-GP covers the lever and deflects contact without preventing the rider from using it.

It does not protect against impacts in a crash, as the manufacturer explicitly states: that is a different function, provided by handguards with two mounting points.

Included and removable winglet

The package includes an aerodynamic winglet that increases wind protection for the hand. It can be removed in a few seconds: without it, the profile remains compact and sportier. Both configurations are supported.

Declared compatibility

Handlebar end Compatibility
Hollow handlebar Compatible, with an internal locking system
6 or 8 mm internal thread Compatible
End closed by a solid insert Installation not supported

Hardware for both configurations is included. It is a universal-fit product: no brand, model, and year-specific part number is required.

Material and adjustment

Made from injection-molded nylon, chosen by the manufacturer to combine rigidity and strength without adding weight to the handlebar end. The guard is adjustable, allowing you to create the additional space needed around the lever.

What you will find in the package

  • Pair of lever guards, right and left.
  • Aerodynamic winglets.
  • Hardware for hollow handlebars and 6 or 8 mm internal threads.

What is NOT included

  • Bar-end weights: the original ones must be removed because the guard occupies the handlebar end. The Barkbusters replacement is the B-066.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Free shipping in Italy on orders over 100 € and in Europe on orders over 250 €, returns within 14 days, and support in Italian. If you compete in a racing series, always check the event regulations: they may have their own requirements for lever guards.

Why choose it
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  1. Rimuovi i contrappesi originali dall estremità del manubrio.

It’s not a handguard

  • It protects the lever from accidental contact, not from impacts during falls. It’s a track problem, not an off-road one.
Tested and approved for MotoGP

Tested and approved for MotoGP

It is the statement that the manufacturer places first in the official description. The lever guard comes from the highest level of competitive motorcycling, where preventing accidental activation of the front brake in the middle of the pack is a matter of safety, not aesthetics.

With an alettina, or without one

With an alettina, or without one

The aerodynamic winglet is included and increases wind protection for the hand. It can be removed in just a few seconds, and without the winglet it becomes more compact and sportier. Neither configuration requires additional parts.

On a KTM 1290 Super Duke R

On a KTM 1290 Super Duke R

On sporty naked bikes and superbikes, bulk matters: the Aero-GP protects the lever without adding volume in front of the handlebar, and blends with the bike's design instead of clashing with it.

What is protected, and what is not

What is protected, and what is not

It protects the lever from accidental contact while riding or racing. It does not protect against impacts in a crash: Barkbusters states this, and it is worth keeping in mind. If you are looking for structural lever protection, you need handguards with two mounting points, but on a supersport, those are a different product with a different amount of bulk.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

What exactly is a lever guard used for?

Prevents the brake or clutch lever from being activated by accidental contact. On the track, among other riders, or in tight traffic, an unintended impact on the front brake lever can have serious consequences: the guard covers the lever and deflects contact.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

That is not its purpose, and the manufacturer states this: the Aero-GP is not designed for impact protection. It is intended to prevent accidental lever activation, which is a different issue. For structural protection in a fall, two-point mounting handguards are required.

Is it suitable for track days and races?

Barkbusters declares the Aero-GP tested and approved for MotoGP. For the regulations of individual Italian racing series and track days, always check the event regulations, which may have their own requirements.

What type of handlebars do you need?

The mounting is at the end of the handlebar, and the kit covers two cases: a hollow handlebar, with an internal locking system, or a handlebar with a 6 or 8 mm internal thread. If the end is closed by a solid insert, installation is not supported.

What is the small fin for, and can I remove it?

The small wing increases wind protection for the hand. It is included and can be removed in seconds: without it, the protection remains more compact and has a sportier appearance. There are two configurations, both provided by the manufacturer.

Does it adjust based on my lever?

Yes. The manufacturer states that it is adjustable to provide the extra space needed around the lever, allowing it to be adapted to the travel and position of yours.

What material are they made of?

Injection-molded nylon composite, chosen by the manufacturer to combine stiffness and strength without adding weight. It is not aluminum, and that is a design choice: on the track, the part needs to deflect contact, not act as a bar.

Do I need to remove the original counterweights?

Yes: the guard occupies the end of the handlebar, so the original bar-end weights must be removed. If you notice more vibration after installation, Barkbusters produces a dedicated bar-end weight, part number B-066, available in its catalog.

How does it differ from a handguard?

A handguard covers the entire hand and protects it from wind, debris and, in two-point versions, impacts during falls. The Aero-GP protects only the lever, has minimal bulk and an aerodynamic profile: it is designed for the track and sport road bikes, where a handguard would be out of place.

Is the specific code for my motorcycle required?

No. It only matters whether the end of the handlebar is hollow or threaded for 6 or 8 mm, and the kit covers both. The make, model, and year code isn't needed.

What will I find in the package?

The right and left pair, the aerodynamic winglets, and the hardware for both handlebar configurations, threadless and threaded.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
