The Aero-GP AGP-001 is not a handguard: it is a lever guard, meaning the part that prevents accidental activation of the brake or clutch lever. Barkbusters designed it for road and track use and states that it is tested and approved for MotoGP.

The problem it solves

On the track, among other riders, or in tight traffic, accidental contact with the front brake lever can have serious consequences. The Aero-GP covers the lever and deflects contact without preventing the rider from using it.

It does not protect against impacts in a crash, as the manufacturer explicitly states: that is a different function, provided by handguards with two mounting points.

Included and removable winglet

The package includes an aerodynamic winglet that increases wind protection for the hand. It can be removed in a few seconds: without it, the profile remains compact and sportier. Both configurations are supported.

Hardware for both configurations is included. It is a universal-fit product: no brand, model, and year-specific part number is required.

Material and adjustment

Made from injection-molded nylon, chosen by the manufacturer to combine rigidity and strength without adding weight to the handlebar end. The guard is adjustable, allowing you to create the additional space needed around the lever.

It is the statement that the manufacturer places first in the official description. The lever guard comes from the highest level of competitive motorcycling, where preventing accidental activation of the front brake in the middle of the pack is a matter of safety, not aesthetics.

The aerodynamic winglet is included and increases wind protection for the hand. It can be removed in just a few seconds, and without the winglet it becomes more compact and sportier. Neither configuration requires additional parts.

On sporty naked bikes and superbikes, bulk matters: the Aero-GP protects the lever without adding volume in front of the handlebar, and blends with the bike's design instead of clashing with it.

What is protected, and what is not

It protects the lever from accidental contact while riding or racing. It does not protect against impacts in a crash: Barkbusters states this, and it is worth keeping in mind. If you are looking for structural lever protection, you need handguards with two mounting points, but on a supersport, those are a different product with a different amount of bulk.

  2. Verifica com è fatta l estremità: tubo aperto oppure filetto interno da 6 o 8 mm, e scegli la viteria corrispondente fra quella in dotazione.
  3. Monta la protezione destra e la sinistra, senza serrare a fondo.
  4. Regola la posizione in modo da lasciare lo spazio necessario alla corsa della leva, poi serra.
  5. Se vuoi il riparo dal vento monta le alettine; altrimenti lasciale fuori.
  6. Verifica il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto prima di partire.
  7. Ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Frenafiletti di media resistenza su tutti i fissaggi. Il produttore considera questo montaggio un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza, da affidare a un tecnico se non hai dimestichezza.

A chi gira in pista o fa track day e deve o vuole proteggere la leva dal contatto accidentale in mezzo agli altri piloti.

A chi ha una naked sportiva o una supersportiva stradale e vuole la stessa sicurezza senza montare un paramano, che su quelle moto è fuori misura.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi cerca riparo dal freddo o protezione della mano dai detriti: quello lo fanno i paramani.
