Why doesn’t the plate rest directly on the frame?

Because between the two there are four Ø 20 × Ø 8.5 × 18 mm spacers, through which the four M6×35 screws holding the plate pass. As a result, the plate remains 18 mm away from the frame. LOBOO does not explain the design choice, and we do not interpret it: we report the information as stated in the parts list.

Is threadlocker included?

Yes, one pack. The manual shows it being applied to the screws during assembly: it is item 11 in the bill of materials.

Can I install it myself, or do I need a workshop?

There are nine steps, involving the removal and reinstallation of original parts of the tail section. It is manageable for anyone who works on their motorcycle and has a torque wrench. The manufacturer asks you to read the manual and watch the video before starting, lay out all the parts without fully tightening them, and apply the torque only at the end, in sequence.

On the F 900 GS, the top case is the first piece of luggage you fit and the last one you remove. This is the support it needs: a complete rear luggage rack with its own structure, not just a plate resting on the standard tail section.

How it is made

Three pieces, not one. A tubular frame that drops down to attach to the rear subframe on both sides, a connecting bracket that keeps it secured in the center, and a perforated mounting plate to which the top case attaches. The plate does not rest on the frame: four Ø 20 × Ø 8.5 × 18 mm spacers hold it 18 mm away, secured by four M6×35 screws.

Four top cases, one mounting system

The plate already has the holes for four LOBOO codes, listed individually in the manufacturer's technical image: P36T and P45T from the PIKE TRACKER series, T36T from the TIBET series, and C40T from the CONQUEROR series. If you change luggage series in the future, you will not need to redo anything at the rear.

How to install it

The manual illustrates nine steps: three for disassembly (one screw on the subframe per side, the four tail-section screws, and the rear cover), one for securing the connecting bracket, two for refitting the original parts just removed, and three for installing the frame, spacers, and plate. No drilling is required. There are only two tightening torques, which must not be confused: 12 N·m for the M6×35 screws and 18 N·m for all M8 screws. Threadlocker is included in the box.

How does it work, in detail?

Frame at the original mounting points, bracket in the center, plate raised by 18 mm on four spacers.

Three pieces that work together

The tubular frame attaches to the rear subframe on both sides, the black bracket keeps it secure in the center beneath the tail, and the plate is what the top case is mounted to. In the official photo, you can see all three before installation: the frame with its attachment points, the plate with the holes for the top cases and the pass-through slots, and the connecting bracket. It is not a plate to place on the stock luggage rack: it is a structure that carries the rack along with it.

The four top cases that attach to the plate

LOBOO indicates on the plate the mounting point for each case: P45T and P36T from the PIKE TRACKER series, T36T from the TIBET series, and C40T from the CONQUEROR series. All the holes are already there, so choosing a different top case does not mean changing the luggage rack. The plate remains raised 18 mm above the frame thanks to four spacers.

A chi sulla F 900 GS il bauletto lo tiene su sempre e lo carica davvero, e a chi mette in conto di cambiare serie di valigie nel tempo senza rifare l'attacco posteriore. Meno adatto a chi dietro porta solo una borsa morbida da weekend: in quel caso serve molto meno.

Da valutare anche il tempo di montaggio: nove passaggi, con smontaggio e rimontaggio di parti originali del codone e due coppie di serraggio da rispettare. Se non te la senti, è un lavoro da officina.
