Description Rear Luggage Rack with Top Case Plate for Ducati Desert X from 2023 | fixed or sliding

It’s not just a plate: it’s a complete rear luggage rack, with a tubular structure, crossbar, mounting blocks, and the plate onto which the top case attaches. The manual lists it for the Ducati Desert X from 2023 onward.

Fixed or sliding

  • Fixed version — single position. Suitable if you travel almost always alone or almost always with a passenger, without switching between the two.
  • Sliding version — rail with 120 mm of front-to-back adjustment.

With the sliding version, you move the top case forward when travelling alone, to centralize the weight and reduce handlebar oscillation at high speeds, or backward when carrying a passenger, to give them more room on the seat. It unlocks with a button and locks again automatically: no tools required. For the sliding version, LOBOO specifies a maximum load of 10 kg on asphalt and 8 kg off-road.

How it’s installed

It is the most demanding installation in the plate range. The package contains 18 items, and the manual calls for two stages of symmetrical removal: the original bolts must be removed from both sides of the tail section and underneath the rear, before installing the crossbar, the structure, and finally the plate.

There are two torque settings: 12 N·m for the M6 bolts and 20 N·m for the M8 bolts. It is the only code in the range that also uses M8 hardware, so do not apply the torque value for the other plates from memory. Also pay attention to the spacers: there are eight of them in three different lengths, and they must be installed in the positions specified by the manual.

All operations are reversible, the key is included, and the manual is available in eight languages, including Italian.

Which top cases can be mounted

The manual lists the luggage rack for the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series. The top case is not included with either version, and LOBOO aluminum top cases can only be mounted on LOBOO supports.

The rear load has a limit

For the fixed version, LOBOO does not specify its own load rating: the limit indicated by Ducati in the registration document for the rear subframe applies, and includes the luggage rack, top case, and contents. Check the fasteners again after the first 100–200 km.

The material is not specified by any LOBOO source, including the manual. The JP581B pannier frames, which have their own page, are installed on the sides.

Why choose it
  • Six compatible top cases:PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T, TIBET T36T, in black or silver.
  • Dedicated to the Desert X:mounts on the manufacturer's designated fixing points.
  • Complements the side racks:the plate works on the rear subframe, the JP581B racks on the sides.
Who is it recommended for

How to choose between the two versions

  • Plate + Rack: fixed position. This is suitable if you almost always travel alone or almost always with a passenger, without alternating.
  • Sliding Plate + Rack: sliding rail with 120 mm of adjustment. Forward when alone, to centralise mass and reduce sway at high speeds; backward with a passenger, to free up space on the seat.

The Sliding plate unlocks with a button and re-locks itself in the new position, without tools. Maximum load indicated by LOBOO: 10 kg on asphalt, 8 kg on dirt roads.

The top case is a separate item in both versions.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and notes

  • The top case is not included in the delivery.
  • Observe the maximum load on the rear subframe indicated by Ducati: the limit includes the plate and loaded top case.
  • Re-check the tightenings after the first 100-200 km.
  • The load must not cover the license plate and rear lights or protrude beyond the limits of the Highway Code.

How does it work, in detail?

Six compatible top cases, PIKE TRACKER and TIBET

Six compatible top cases, PIKE TRACKER and TIBET

The plate provides access to six top-case options: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T and TIBET T36T, each available in black or silver. It is the base onto which the top case attaches, and the top case must be purchased separately.

It works in combination with the JP581B side frames: the plate on the rear subframe and the frames on the sides. Together, they complete the luggage system for the Desert X.

You are a top case, and the load must be observed.

You are a top case, and the load must be observed.

The plate opens access to six codes: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T, TIBET T36T, in black or silver. The P45T carries the full-face helmet, while the P36T and T36T keep the rear compact.

Ducati specifies a maximum load on the rear subframe that includes the plate, top case, and contents: it is the highest and rearmost point, and exceeding it affects stability.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Are side frames required to install this luggage rack?

No. The manual shows the attachment to the motorcycle’s rear subframe, at the original screw mounting points: the JP581B side frames do not appear in either the steps or the parts list.

They are two independent products that work on different areas of the motorcycle, and you can install them in any order.

Which version is better, fixed or sliding?

The fixed version is the essential, more affordable solution. The sliding version lets you move the top case 120 mm forward and backward without tools, with push-button release and automatic locking: it helps balance the load when traveling with two people or create space behind the seat.

For the sliding version, LOBOO states a maximum load of 10 kg on asphalt and 8 kg on unpaved roads. For the fixed version, the relevant limit remains Ducati’s rear subframe limit.

Is the top case included?

No: this page sells the luggage rack with the mounting plate, i.e. the interface between the motorcycle and the top case. The top case is chosen separately.

The manual lists the product for the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series: those are the ones specified by the manufacturer.

How many stages does the assembly involve, and what needs to be disassembled?

Five stages in total: the first two are used to remove the original screws on both sides of the tail section and underneath the tail, while the other three are used to install the structure, crossbar, and plate.

Removal and installation are identical on the right and left, as the manual explicitly states. The four supplied caps close the openings left vacant.

What torque should the screws be tightened to?

The manual specifies 12 N·m for the M6 screws and 20 N·m for the M8 screws. It is the only luggage rack in the range to use both sizes, so it is best to keep the manual handy rather than rely on memory.

The mounting wrench is included; the torque wrench is not.

What are the three different lengths of spacers used for?

There are eight bushings of 11, 15, and 18 mm that compensate for the different support planes of the tail section: each length has its own position, indicated in the installation view.

They are not interchangeable: installing the wrong one puts the structure under tension instead of supporting it.

What is the difference between a Plate and a Sliding Plate?

The sliding version features a rail with 120 mm of adjustment: move the top case forward when riding alone to centralize the weight and reduce oscillation at high speeds, or backward when carrying a passenger to give them more space. It unlocks with a button and locks again automatically, without tools. The fixed version has a single position.

For the sliding version, LOBOO specifies a maximum load of 10 kg on asphalt and 8 kg on unpaved roads. For the fixed version, the limit specified by the motorcycle manufacturer in the owner's manual applies.

Which top cases can I mount on this luggage rack?

The manual lists the luggage rack for the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series, each available in black or silver. The top case is not included with either version, fixed or sliding.

The side cases are a different matter and work with the JP581B frames, which have their own page.

Are aluminum suitcases or soft-sided ones better?

Aluminum protects the load better and has keyed locks, but it is heavier and has rigid edges in case of a fall. The WANDERER semi-rigid cases weigh less, absorb impacts better, and are more forgiving in tight passages. The frames are the same, so you can decide later as well.

Which top cases does this plate accept?

Six codes: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T and TIBET T36T, each in a black or silver finish. The top case is not included and must be purchased separately.

Can I install the plate and side frames together?

Yes, they are complementary products: the plate mounts to the rear rack for the top case, while the JP581B racks mount on the sides for the panniers. Together, they complete the luggage system for the Desert X. Always check the maximum load specified by Ducati in the manual.

Is the product covered by a warranty?

Yes: the 24-month statutory warranty of conformity provided for by the Consumer Code applies. In the event of a defect, we will handle the claim with the manufacturer.
