Description Complete Barkbusters SABRE handguards for motocross and enduro

SABRE is the full handguard that Barkbusters designed specifically for motocross and enduro: single-point mounting with an open end, a minimalist profile, and everything included in the package, including the deflectors.

Two handguards in one

That is the feature that sets it apart from the rest of the range. The set includes upper and lower deflectors for both sides, which can be fitted or removed depending on how you ride:

  • With the deflectors: maximum coverage from roost, debris, and brush.
  • Without them: a low-profile, minimalist shell with vents that allow airflow through.

On other Barkbusters series, the deflectors are an accessory purchased separately. Here, they are included.

Protection from the elements, not impacts

Barkbusters states that single-point products are not designed for impact protection. SABRE protects against roost, debris, and branches, while the open-end design is the configuration required by motocross racing regulations. If you are looking for structural lever protection in a crash, choose a two-point model such as the EGO.

Low-profile clamps, two adjustment positions

The clamps are made of high-quality aluminium, with a slim profile to avoid cluttering the handlebar, and offer two lateral mounting positions to adapt the handguard to the bike's geometry and controls.

Sixteen colour combinations

The code indicates two colours: the first is the shell, and the second the deflectors. Black with red deflectors, blue with white deflectors, HiViz yellow with black deflectors, and so on. The range is designed to match the factory colours of the most popular bikes.

What's in the package

  • Two high-impact-resistant moulded plastic shells.
  • Upper and lower deflectors, right and left.
  • End caps.
  • Aluminium clamps and complete hardware.

What's NOT included

  • Nothing essential: the set is complete. Spare deflectors and end caps, should you need them in the future, are listed among the Barkbusters components.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100 and in Europe on orders over €250, returns within 14 days, and support in Italian. If you are unsure about matching the colour to your bike, write to us: we'll let you know.

Why choose it
  • Deflettori inclusi, superiori e inferiori.
  • Morsetti a profilo sottile.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  2. Fissa il guscio al morsetto.

Two handguards in one

  • With the deflectors installed, it provides maximum coverage; removing them leaves a low-profile, ventilated shell. The choice is yours, and it changes in five minutes.
With wind deflectors, or without them

With wind deflectors, or without them

With the deflectors removed, this is what remains: a low, sharp shell, with air intakes that let the airflow through. It's the race and hot-weather configuration. Reinstalling them gives you full coverage against roost and brush, and it takes five minutes. Both are included in the package.

Sixteen shell and deflector combinations

Sixteen shell and deflector combinations

The first color is the shell, the second is the deflectors. Sixteen combinations, chosen to match the factory colors of the most popular motocross and enduro bikes: black with orange deflectors for KTMs, blue with white ones for Yamahas, and so on.

In the race and in the woods

In the race and in the woods

Barkbusters designs the SABRE for motocross and enduro. The open-ended design is the configuration required by racing regulations, and the slim clamp doesn’t take up space on the handlebar, where every millimeter counts off-road.

Single point: what it protects and what it doesn't

Single point: what it protects and what it doesn't

A single mounting point on the handlebar, with the end left unsupported. That is all you need for riding, but Barkbusters states that single-point products are not designed for impact protection. In a fall, the lever is not protected as it is with a two-point handguard.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

Barkbusters states that single-point products are not designed for impact protection. SABRE shields against roost, debris, and brush, and the open end is required by racing regulations. For structural protection of the lever in a fall, two-point models are needed.

What does the two-tone color in the variant name mean?

The first color is that of the shell, and the second is that of the deflectors. Black with red deflectors means a black shell and red deflectors. There are sixteen combinations, designed to match the factory colors of the motorcycles.

Are the wind deflectors included, or are they purchased separately?

They are included, and that is what makes the SABRE special: the package contains both the upper and lower deflectors for both sides. On other Barkbusters series, the deflectors are a separate accessory.

Can I remove them?

Yes, and the handguard is designed to work in both configurations. With the deflectors installed, you get maximum coverage from roost and debris; removing them leaves a lower-profile, minimalist shell with more airflow.

Is the kit complete, or do I need to buy anything else?

It is complete. The manufacturer explicitly states this: shells, upper and lower deflectors, caps, and all mounting hardware.

Is the specific code for my motorcycle required?

No. The SABRE has a universal mount: the clamp fits the handlebar and has two lateral adjustment positions. Barkbusters recommends it for motocross and enduro motorcycles.

Can I adjust the position of the handguard?

Yes. The aluminum clamp has two lateral mounting positions, allowing the handguard to be moved relative to the handlebar and controls.

What is the difference between SABRE and VPS-207?

They are both full single-point handguards for motocross, and neither is certified for impact protection. The SABRE has a more minimalist profile, includes upper and lower deflectors, and comes in sixteen color combinations; the VPS-207 features more wraparound VPS plastics, with the deflectors available as a separate accessory.

If I break a wind deflector, do I have to buy the whole set again?

No. Barkbusters produce the replacement deflector and plug set for the SABRE, and it is listed in the components catalog. The plug-only set is also available.

Is it suitable for enduro riding in the woods?

It is one of the two terrains Barkbusters designs it for, along with motocross. In tight woods, it is best to keep the deflectors installed, as they provide more coverage against branches and brush. The limitation of the single mounting point for impact protection remains: for that, you need a two-point model, such as the EGO.

Should I remove the bar ends or cut off the grips?

The handguard is attached to the handlebar with a clamp and has an open end, so it does not take up the bar end. Bar-end plugs are included in the package anyway. If you have any doubts about your setup, contact us before ordering.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
