Description LOBOO – Tank Attachment Ring for Magnetic Tank Bags

The mounting ring is the component that makes it possible to install LOBOO tank bags. It screws onto the points already present around the fuel cap and stays on the motorcycle: the bag rests on it, the magnets guide it into position, and the mechanical lock holds it in place. To remove it, simply lift it.

Without the ring, the bag cannot be mounted. It is the part missing when someone buys the bag and discovers they cannot use it, which is why it should be selected together with the bag.

How to choose it

There is no universal ring: the flange design follows the number and position of the fuel cap screws, which vary from motorcycle to motorcycle. Select your motorcycle from the menu — each variant lists the model and LOBOO code — and check the year in the table below.

If you cannot find your model or are unsure about the model year, write to us with the make, model, and year before ordering: we will check the LOBOO documentation for you.

Attention to Honda fuel caps

Some Honda motorcycles have two versions of the fuel cap, with five or seven holes, and the ring is not interchangeable between them. Before ordering, count the screws around your motorcycle's fuel cap: this check helps avoid a return.

It also works on plastic tanks

The grip is not on the bodywork but on the ring, which is mechanically fastened. The tank material is therefore irrelevant: metal or plastic, the result is the same. This is the difference compared with traditional magnetic bags, which simply do not stay in place on a modern motorcycle with a plastic tank.

There are no straps running under the seat either, which can mark the side panels over time.

Construction

Aluminum alloy and nylon body. The standard versions measure 122 × 104 mm and weigh 85 grams; the ring for the Harley-Davidson Pan America is larger, measuring 147 × 122 mm, made entirely of aluminum, and weighing 130 grams.

Installation

The ring replaces the fuel cap bezel: remove the original screws, position the flange, and reinstall it using the supplied hardware, tightening in a cross pattern and following the torque specifications provided by the motorcycle manufacturer. It takes just a few minutes, requires no drilling, and is fully reversible.

Once installation is complete, check that the fuel cap opens and closes freely, that the key enters without force, and that the handlebar does not touch the bag with the steering fully turned. Check the fasteners again after the first 100–200 km.

Why buy from Endurrad

Endurrad specializes in accessories for adventure and touring motorcycles. If you are unsure which ring your motorcycle needs, write to us with the model and year: we will check it before you order.

Why choose it
  • This is the piece that makes the tank bag usable:LOBOO tank bags attach to the tank ring, not the paint. Without it, they stay in the box.
  • Attach and detach in one motion:magnets guide the bag into place, and the mechanical lock secures it. Remove it in two seconds when refueling.
  • Protected paint:no straps under the seat that mark the side panels over time.
  • Works on plastic tanks:the fastening is mechanical, so the body material is irrelevant.
  • Reversible mounting:uses the threaded seats of the fuel cap, without drilling. Reinstalling the standard ring returns the bike to its original condition.
  • Aluminum and nylon:85 grams that are unnoticeable on the tank.
Who is it recommended for

You need the ring if:

  • You have bought or are buying a LOBOO magnetic tank bag, such as the 4.5-6.5 L Expandable Tank Bag
  • You already have the bag and need to mount it on a different motorcycle than the one you were using it on
  • You want to remove and reattach the bag at each stop without unfastening straps

You don't need it if:You have a universal strap-mounted tank bag, such as the 7-9 L Expandable Tank Bag, which does not use the ring.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and Notes

  • Align the ring on the fuel filler cap and replace the original screws with the supplied screws, using medium threadlocker.
  • Tighten in a criss-cross pattern, observing the torque settings indicated by the motorcycle manufacturer.
  • Once assembly is complete, check the cap opening and the steering radius with the tank bag installed.
  • Recheck the tightenings after the first 100-200 km.

How does it work, in detail?

No straps, no magnets: just one click

No straps, no magnets: just one click

The ring replaces the fuel cap screws and transforms the tank into a mechanical bayonet mount. The bag attaches and detaches in one motion, the tank remains unobstructed when not needed, and the paint is free from rubbing straps and magnets that attract dust.

Steel or stainless steel depending on the variant, with dedicated spacers for alignment on different caps and to keep the bag away from the bodywork.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Is it also needed if the bag is magnetic?

Yes, and that’s exactly where it’s needed. LOBOO tank bags don’t attach to the paint: the magnets work against the ring to guide the bag into position, then the mechanical lock holds it in place. Without the ring, there’s nothing to attach to.

That’s also why the system works on plastic tanks, where a traditional magnetic bag wouldn’t stay in place.

How do I know which ring I need for my motorcycle?

The selection menu lists the compatible models and the LOBOO code for each ring, while the description table shows the exact model years. Start there: in the vast majority of cases, your motorcycle is already listed.

If your model isn’t listed, or if the year falls on the boundary between two generations, send us the make, model, and year: we’ll check the LOBOO documentation before you place your order.

How do I choose the correct ring variant for my motorcycle?

The ring is mounted in place of the fuel cap screws, so the code depends on the cap’s hole pattern, which varies from motorcycle to motorcycle. Select the variant corresponding to your model; if you’re unsure, send us the make, model, and year, and we’ll indicate the correct code before you place your order.

For my Honda, which one should I get, 5-hole or 7-hole?

Count the screws around your motorcycle’s fuel cap: it’s the quickest method, and nothing needs to be removed. Honda used two different patterns even on the same model depending on the model year, and the rings are not interchangeable.

The BTBZJ281 is for 7-hole caps, and the BTBZJ291 is for 5-hole caps. This check helps prevent the most common return for this product: if you’re unsure, send us a photo of the cap.

Does installation damage the motorcycle or leave marks?

No. The ring uses the existing threaded holes for the fuel cap bezel: nothing needs to be drilled or modified. Reinstalling the original bezel restores the motorcycle exactly to its original condition, which matters if you plan to resell it.

Tighten in a crisscross pattern with medium-strength threadlocker, following the manufacturer’s specified torque values, and check again after the first 100–200 kilometers.

Does it interfere with opening the fuel cap?

No: the profile is designed to leave the door's movement and access to the lock unobstructed. After installation, however, check that the cap opens and closes freely and that the key goes in without forcing it.

With the bag installed, refueling is done by detaching it: it's a simple step, and it's the main reason this system beats straps.

What material is it made of, and how much does it weigh?

Aluminum and nylon alloy. The standard versions measure 122 × 104 mm and weigh 85 grams—light enough that you won't notice the weight on the tank.

The exception is the ring for the Harley-Davidson Pan America, the BTBZJ951, which is larger—147 × 122 mm—made entirely of aluminum, and weighs 130 grams.

Can I use it with bags from other brands?

The ring is designed for LOBOO tank bags, and we cannot guarantee compatibility with systems from other manufacturers: each brand uses a proprietary attachment profile, and dimensions are not standardized.

If you already have a bag from another brand and want to find out whether it is compatible, write to us with the brand and model: we’ll tell you what we know, so you won’t be tempted to buy blindly.

Which tank bags attach to these rings?

All tank bags with a bayonet ring-lock attachment, such as the Expandable 4.5–6.5 L Tank Bag. Bags with magnetic or strap mounting do not use this system: check your bag’s attachment type before purchasing.
