Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-067 is the mounting structure that Barkbusters designed for the handlebars of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and second-generation Scramblers. It is the aluminum base onto which the handguards are mounted: the protective plastics are not included and must be chosen separately, because in the Barkbusters range the structure and protection are two separate, interchangeable products. This is the black version, powder-coated.
Main features
- Two mounting points: the bar is secured to the end of the handlebar and to a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection; the single-point configuration, the other option in the range, is intended only for wind and weather protection.
- Dedicated multi-fit clamps, one left and one right, with connectors designed for each side.
- Wraparound heat-treated aluminum bar, which acts as a structural element in front of the levers.
- Four plastic series on the same base: JET, VPS, STORM or CARBON, also interchangeable later.
Compatibility
| Brand | Model | Years | Code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ducati | Scrambler Full Throttle | from 2015 | BHG-067 |
| Ducati | Scrambler Flat Track Pro | 2016 | BHG-067 |
| Ducati | Scrambler Desert Sled | from 2017 | BHG-067 |
| Ducati | Scrambler 1100 | from 2018 | BHG-067 |
| Ducati | Scrambler 1100 Special | from 2018 | BHG-067 |
| Ducati | Scrambler 1100 Sport | from 2018 | BHG-067 |
Barkbusters states these compatibility details for motorcycles in original factory configuration. With an aftermarket handlebar, diameters and wall thicknesses change, so the mounting must be checked before purchase. For the Scrambler Icon, Classic, Urban Enduro and Sixty2, the correct code is not this one but BHG-060.
What to know before ordering if you have a Desert Sled
The official instructions state that on the Desert Sled, the clutch lever support on the left side must be moved inward by 15 mm, leaving 35 mm of clearance from the switchgear. Before riding again, check that the lever can be pulled fully without interference. This is not an irreversible modification, but it is an additional step compared with the other models and should be taken into account.
Installation
Remove the original plug from the end of the handlebar, position the clamp without tightening it, secure the bar to the end and to the connector, set it horizontally when viewed from the side, and tighten it in the order specified by the manufacturer. Specified torque values: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker, then check again after the first 50 km.
Leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard so the throttle can close freely, and check the throttle, front brake, clutch and engine kill switch with the handlebars turned freely from lock to lock. Installing handguards is considered a safety-critical procedure: if you are not experienced, have it carried out by a technician.
What you will find in the package
- Two aluminum bars, one left and one right
- Two multi-fit clamps and two connectors, left and right
- Ten screws and two M6 self-locking nuts
- Two sets for mounting to the bar ends: collar, expander, clamp and conical ring
- Official INS-BHG-067-BK instructions, downloadable from this page
The manufacturer states that some parts are not needed on every model: the collar is not used on the Desert Sled, and the clamp is not used on the 1100 models. It is normal for some parts to remain unused.
What is NOT included
- Protective plastics, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON
- Handlebar weights: they are not included in the official parts list
