Description SoundBomb horn kit with bracket and wiring harness for BMW R 1250 GS

Code DNL07KIT016 — DENALI code DNL.07.KIT.016

Complete kit for mounting a 120 dB SoundBomb Split air horn on the BMW R 1200 GS and R 1250 GS, including the GS Adventure: horn, dedicated bracket, and wiring harness with relay and fuse.

That is about twenty decibels louder than a standard disc horn, which on a logarithmic scale means a sound that DENALI claims is four times louder. The horn is a dual-tone electropneumatic model, with a separate compressor and acoustic unit that can be positioned up to 90 cm apart.

If you already have a CANsmart controller, the horn connects to its dedicated circuit without a relay or additional wiring.

Why choose it

  • Staffa dedicata compresa, nessuna foratura.
  • Con centralina CANsmart si collega senza relè.
Who is it recommended for

Restano esclusi usura normale, abrasione, uso improprio, installazione errata, incidenti e modifiche. Il montaggio con il cilindro fuori dalla tolleranza di 25 gradi dalla verticale, o in posizione esposta agli spruzzi, rientra fra le installazioni non conformi alle istruzioni del produttore.

How does it work, in detail?

  • An air horn four times louder than the stock one, with the right bracket for your GS.
Four times the horn you have now

Four times the horn you have now

120 decibels measured at one meter, compared with around 100 for a standard disc horn. The scale is logarithmic, so an extra twenty decibels is not a minor tweak: DENALI claims the SoundBomb is four times louder.

It’s the least expensive way to make yourself heard by the motorist about to turn in front of you.

Two separate bodies, to find the space

Two separate bodies, to find the space

The Split version has separate compressor and acoustic unit, connected by a tube, and they can be up to 90 cm apart. In a crowded front compartment, you can find two small spaces much more easily than one large space.

There is one requirement to observe: the compressor cylinder must be vertical, with a maximum tolerance of 25 degrees, in a spot protected from splashes.

With the CANsmart, a relay isn’t needed

With the CANsmart, a relay isn’t needed

The included wiring is for those installing the horn themselves: the SoundBomb draws 20 A and cannot be powered by the original system, so it must run through a relay.

If you already have a CANsmart controller, the horn connects to its dedicated circuit: green wire to positive, black to negative, and that's it. If you have installed a spotlight kit with a controller, the remaining free channel is for this.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

How much louder is it than the stock horn?

The SoundBomb produces 120 decibels compared with around 100 for a standard disc horn. DENALI claims it is four times louder: the decibel scale is logarithmic, so twenty decibels more is a huge difference, not a minor adjustment.

Is a relay needed, or is everything included?

The universal wiring harness included in the kit contains everything needed for connection with a relay, which is necessary because the horn draws too much current for the original system. If you already have a CANsmart control unit, however, the relay is not needed: the horn connects to the control unit’s dedicated circuit.

Why does the compressor have to be mounted vertically?

It is a requirement in the manual: the cylinder must be vertical, with a maximum tolerance of 25 degrees; otherwise, the horn will not work as it should. A location protected from debris and wheel spray must also be chosen.
