How to check compatibility

It does not depend on the motorcycle model. The only relevant data is the diameter of the grip you already have installed: the clamp adapts with continuous adjustment between 29 and 35 mm, an interval that covers the standard grips of the vast majority of motorcycles.

Measure it with a caliper, or with a tape measure around the grip, dividing the circumference by 3.14. If the value is at the limit of the range, write to us before ordering.

It is the right choice if:

  • Your motorcycle does not have standard heated grips and you do not want a permanent modification
  • You use your motorcycle for winter commuting, where cold hands are a daily problem
  • You have multiple motorcycles and want to be able to move the accessory from one to another
  • You do not want to give up the original grips, which remain where they are

To consider if:

  • You have handguards with a narrow attachment near the control: the grip cover adds a few millimeters to the diameter
  • You already have spotlights, a USB socket, and heated clothing on the same system: check the alternator's output
Documents and manufacturer

Assembly

  • Measure the diameter of the grip: it must be between 29 and 35 mm.
  • Mount the clamp on the handlebar by inserting the pin into the appropriate position among the four available, then tighten the screw with the 2 mm Allen key until it no longer slips.
  • Distinguish between right and left and wrap each grip cover in the direction indicated by the manual, with the input cable at the lowest point.
  • Connect positive with fuse, negative, and ACC line to 12-15 V, with the rectifier module in line. Fully insert the connectors and tighten the nuts.
  • Secure the throttle side cable with the supplied silicone ties: it must not be under tension when you rotate the grip.
  • Test the steering to full lock on both sides and check that nothing touches.

Use

  • When the ignition is on, the red LED at the bottom flashes: this is the standby status.
  • One press turns on level 1, subsequent presses increase the level. The steady lit LEDs indicate the level: one, two, three or four.
  • Long press the button, or turn off the ignition, to switch off. Right and left are controlled separately.

Manufacturer's Warnings

  • In cold weather, a numb hand may not perceive the temperature well: start from a low level to avoid burns from prolonged contact.
  • Product intended only for thermal motorcycles with a 12-15 V DC system.
  • Installation not in accordance with the manual may damage the product and invalidate the manufacturer's free warranty. The 24-month legal warranty remains unaffected.

Maintenance

  • Clean with water and neutral soap. Avoid solvents and pressure washers pointed at the connectors.
  • At the end of the season, remove the grip covers by disconnecting the screw connectors: the system remains ready for the following autumn.

Warm hands without touching the grips

The L'H80 does not replace the motorcycle grips: it wraps over them and tightens with a clamp. No glue, no removal of the controls, and no permanent modifications.

At the end of winter, it can be removed in just a few minutes, and the motorcycle returns exactly to how it was. That is also why it can be moved from one motorcycle to another.

This is what changes everything compared with traditional grip covers: you don’t need to remove the original grips. The multi-segment clamp wraps over the ones you already have and tightens securely, with no glue and without removing the controls.

LOBOO protects it with a utility model patent, number ZL 2019 2 0032035.1. The segments provide continuous adjustment for diameters between 29 and 35 mm.

First level 38 °C, second 45 °C, third 52 °C, fourth 59 °C. Four settings are needed because the right temperature changes with the cold, the motorcycle, and especially the thickness of the gloves.

These values were measured by LOBOO in a laboratory with the motorcycle stationary at an ambient temperature of 5 °C. While riding, the wind and the grip’s thermal conductivity lower them: use them as a reference, not a promise.

The throttle hand gets more wind than the clutch hand, and on many motorcycles, engine heat reaches only one side. With the H80, you can set a different level for each grip or turn off just one.

Inside, there is a large-surface heating plate instead of a wire heating element: it reaches temperature faster and distributes heat around the entire circumference, rather than in strips.

At minimum it draws 10 W, and at maximum 28 W. That’s a level of consumption that almost all motorcycle electrical systems can handle without problems, but if you already have auxiliary lights, a USB outlet, and a heated vest connected, it’s worth doing the math on your alternator’s output.

A vibration sensor detects when the motorcycle is stationary: after five minutes, it automatically cuts the power. This solves the classic problem with every heated accessory—forgetting to turn it off and finding the battery dead.

The cable also has protection that interrupts the circuit if the voltage exceeds 24 V.

The 6 says dust cannot get in; the 7 says it can withstand temporary immersion. In practice, that means thunderstorms, wet roads, and normal washing won’t affect it. Still, avoid pointing a pressure washer at the connectors.

The wiring and knob covers are two separate pieces, joined by separate screw connectors for the right and left sides. The knob covers can be removed while leaving the system in place, then reinstalled in the autumn without having to redo the work.

The clamp with the button stays on the inside, near the controls, where it can be reached with your thumb without letting go of the grip. The cable runs down along the handlebar and connects to the system.

If you have narrow handguards or bulky bar-end weights, check the clearance before ordering: the grip cover adds a few millimeters to the diameter.

How can I tell if they fit my motorcycle?

It does not depend on the motorcycle model, but on the diameter of the grip you already have installed: the clamp fits diameters between 29 and 35 mm. Measure it with calipers or, if you don’t have any, wrap a tailor’s tape measure around the grip and then divide by 3.14.

The standard grips on the vast majority of motorcycles fall within this range. If your measurement is at the limit, contact us before ordering.

Do I need to remove the original grips?

No, and that’s the point of this product. The H80 wraps around the grips you already have and tightens with the clamp. No glue, no heaters to insert under the rubber, no need to remove the control pods.

How hot do they really get?

The four stated levels are 38, 45, 52, and 59 °C. These are laboratory measurements taken by LOBOO with the motorcycle stationary at an ambient temperature of 5 °C.

While riding, wind and the conductivity of the grip underneath lower the actual value, and glove thickness affects how warm it feels. Use them as a reference for comparing one level with another, not as a guaranteed temperature at your hand.

Do they use a lot of power? Is there a risk of draining the battery?

They consume from 10 W at the lowest setting to 28 W at the highest, powered by the motorcycle’s 12–15 V system. This is a load that almost any electrical system can handle.

To prevent you from forgetting, there’s a vibration sensor: if the motorcycle remains stationary for five minutes, the H80 switches off automatically. However, if you already have auxiliary lights, a USB socket, and a heated vest connected to the same system, it’s worth checking the alternator’s output.

Can I adjust the two knobs differently?

Yes. Each grip cover has its own button and heat setting: you can keep the right one warmer than the left, or turn just one off. It’s more useful than it might seem, because the throttle hand gets more wind, and on many motorcycles engine heat reaches only one side.

Are they resistant to rain and washing?

The stated rating is IP67: no dust ingress and protection against temporary immersion. Rain, wet roads, and normal washing are not a problem. Avoid directing a pressure washer at the connectors from close range.

Can they be removed in summer?

Yes, and that’s one of the advantages over integrated heated grips. The cable and grip covers are separate parts with screw connectors: by removing the grip covers, the system stays in place, ready for the following autumn.

For the same reason, you can move them to another motorcycle if the grip diameter falls within the range.

Do they also work with handguards installed?

Normally, yes—in fact, handguards and heated grip covers work well together: the former block the wind, while the latter provide warmth. However, a grip cover adds a few millimeters to the diameter, so if your handguards have a tight fit near the controls, it’s best to check the clearance before ordering.

How do they connect to the system?

Three connections are required: positive with a fuse, negative, and the ACC line, meaning the 12–15 V wire that is powered when the ignition is on and disconnected when the ignition is off. The rectifier module is installed in line between the electrical system and the two grip covers.

The manual specifies that the product is intended only for combustion-engine motorcycles with a 12–15 V direct-current electrical system. The cable has protection that interrupts the circuit above 24 V.

What’s in the package?

The manual lists seven items: 1 heated grip cover assembly (right and left), 1 rectifier module, 2 terminals, 8 cable ties, 2 silicone cable ties, 2 M3×16 screws and 2 M3×18 screws, 1 2 mm Allen key.

The silicone cable ties are used to secure the throttle-side cable: the manual requires using the original ones, because cable damage caused by incorrect installation is not covered by the warranty.

Can the button be reached by driving?

The clamp should be positioned toward the inside of the handlebar, near the control switch housing: the button remains under your thumb, allowing you to change levels without releasing your grip. Four LEDs indicate the active level.

How long does the battery last when it’s turned off or when the motorcycle is stationary?

They do not have their own battery: they draw power from the motorcycle’s electrical system and work only when it is powered. If the motorcycle remains stationary for five minutes, the vibration sensor switches them off automatically, precisely to avoid leaving an active power draw.

How do you clean them?

Water and mild soap with a soft cloth. The IP67 rating withstands normal washing, but avoid solvents on the grip surface and do not aim a pressure washer directly at the connectors from close range. Before reinstalling them after a seasonal break, check that the contacts are dry and clean.
