Putting a screen in front of an optical assembly is easy. Putting one there without ruining the beam pattern is another matter: a screen that diffuses the light blurs the low-beam cutoff and gives you a halo instead of the road.

The lens is engineered for high light transmission with minimal distortion, so the output remains close to the original. To be honest, some light is inevitably absorbed, and with the Light Grey and Chrome finishes, the reduction is noticeable. If you drive a lot at night, the Transparent finish has no alternative.
