The LOBOO BTB15BK tank bag starts at 7 liters and expands to 9 by opening the expansion zipper. It measures 290 × 230 × 170 mm and weighs 890 g: it is the largest of LOBOO’s expandable tank bags, designed to cover longer trips, not just the daily commute.

Four magnets and four spring-loaded teeth

The base attaches magnetically at four points to the ring mounted around the tank cap: bring the bag close and it aligns itself, without having to center it by eye while wearing gloves. However, it is not the magnets that hold it in place, but four spring-loaded teeth that snap into position and lock it mechanically.

To remove it, pull the auxiliary quick-release strap and lift: LOBOO states that it takes one second to mount and two seconds to remove. At the gas station, you can take it off without getting off the motorcycle.

The base slides back and forth

Lift the base’s quick-release fastening buckle, move the magnetic plate forward or backward until it is in the right position, and close the buckle again. No tools required. This is the same adjustment as on the BTB10, and it matters even more on a 9-liter bag: if the handlebar touches the bag at full lock, move the base backward instead of giving up on the bag.

The mounting ring is required

The bag does not attach directly to the tank and does not use straps: it attaches to an adapter ring screwed onto the fuel cap, sold separately and specific to the make, model, and cap type. Use the selector at the top of this page to find the correct code and add it to your order.

LOBOO documents four types of ring: circular, circular with reverse mounting, shaped, and with 3M adhesive. The type depends on your motorcycle’s fuel cap and is already determined by the code returned by the selector.

Pay attention to models with two different caps depending on the trim level, such as the Honda NX 400 and NX 500 with 5-hole or 7-hole rings: count the bolts before ordering.

2520D ballistic nylon

The fabric is double-thread 2520D ballistic nylon, a weave used where abrasion resistance matters. The stated composition is 52% nylon, 37% polyurethane, and 11% EVA: the latter is the material of the shaped upper shell, which maintains its form even when the bag is full.

The sides feature high-reflectivity strips. They do not replace a high-visibility vest, but they add a luminous surface at the height of the headlights of oncoming traffic.

Everything organized inside

The lid opens onto a zippered mesh pocket for keys and documents. The main compartment holds a water bottle, gloves, and a balaclava, while the front has a dedicated external pocket for a neck warmer or power bank. The pulls on the custom SBS zippers are sized to be easy to grip while wearing winter gloves.

Rain

The bottom has a waterproof coating with rubber strips that stop water rising from the tank. For prolonged bad weather, the package includes a one-piece rain cover: it slips over the bag without elastic straps to attach at four points.

LOBOO does not state any IP rating for this bag. In a storm, the cover provides the protection, and it should be fitted before the rain starts coming down heavily.

Which one to choose from the range

All LOBOO tank bags use the same magnetic attachment on a ring: the volume and base differ. The 2.5–3.5 L BTB05 has a fixed base and can be carried as a waist bag. The 4.5–6.5 L BTB10 shares the sliding base with this model. If you want more volume but do not need expansion, the 10 L BTB12 has a fixed capacity. If you already have the ring installed, you can move any of these bags to the same motorcycle.

The magnetic attraction works on four points: bring the bag close to the ring and it aligns itself, so you don't have to center it by eye while wearing gloves. But the magnet isn't what keeps it in place.

Underneath, four spring-loaded teeth snap into place and mechanically lock the bag. The magnet guides the attachment; the teeth ensure that nine liters stay where you put them, even on rough terrain.

Remove the original filler cap screws, insert the supplied aluminum bushings, position the ring with the opening facing the rear of the motorcycle, and screw it back on. The original filler cap trim ring goes back on top, with the holes aligned.

It only takes a few minutes, requires no drilling, and is completely reversible. Once installed, it stays in place: from then on, the bag attaches and detaches in a second.

On some caps, the ring goes above the collar rather than underneath it: position the bushings, place the ring on top, and screw it back on. Then the cap’s collar returns to its position above the ring without aligning the holes.

Only the sequence changes, not the difficulty. The code returned by the selector already determines which of the two procedures is required for your motorcycle.

On various motorcycles, the bolt pattern around the cap is not circular, so LOBOO produces shaped rings that follow its profile. The assembly sequence remains unchanged: remove the original bolts, place the aluminum bushings in the seats, fit the ring on top, and screw it back on.

The magnetic attachment to the bag is identical across the entire range; only the side facing the tank changes.

There is also a base with 3M adhesive for caps where it is best not to disturb the hardware. Degrease the cap with an alcohol-soaked cotton pad, align the three reference points printed on the base, and press down.

There are no screws to undo, but cleaning the surface becomes the crucial step: the adhesive is what supports the bag’s load.

At 290 × 230 × 170 mm, it’s the largest in the LOBOO tank bag range—and it shows. Once mounted, it stays gathered around the fuel cap without reaching the windscreen, but on a compact motorcycle it takes up a substantial part of the tank.

Before ordering, look at your tank and ask yourself whether twenty-nine centimeters will fit. If you’re unsure, the 4.5–6.5 L BTB10 uses the same mounting system with a significantly smaller footprint.

No, and that’s essential: this bag does not use straps. It attaches magnetically to an adapter ring screwed onto the fuel cap, specific to the make, model, and type of cap. It cannot be mounted without the ring.

That is the difference compared with traditional magnetic bags, which simply do not stay in place on a modern adventure bike with a plastic tank.

How much does it really hold?

Closed, it holds 7 liters: a water bottle, gloves, a balaclava, a neck warmer, documents, and a phone, with keys and cards kept separately in the mesh pocket under the lid. Unzipping it expands the capacity to 9 liters, leaving room for a rain jacket or a compact camera.

It is the largest capacity in the LOBOO tank bag range. For travel luggage, you will still need rear or side bags.

How do you go from 7 to 9 liters?

I open the expansion zipper on the lower panel: the bag gains height and recovers two liters. The operation is reversible at any time, even with the bag mounted on the motorcycle.

In everyday use, you keep it closed to minimize bulk; on the day of departure, you open it.

Can I move the bag forward or backward on the tank?

Yes, and it’s the most important adjustment on this bag. Lift the quick-release base fastening buckle, slide the magnetic plate forward or backward, and close the buckle again. No tools required.

It’s especially useful on motorcycles with a short tank: if the handlebar touches the bag when turned fully, move the base backward instead of giving up.
