Description DUCATI Desert X top case plate

The LOBOO Top Case Plate for the Ducati Desert X includes the plate and support rack, and is available in two versions. The difference is not aesthetic.

Fixed or Sliding

  • Plate + Rack — fixed position. Suitable if you almost always ride alone or almost always with a passenger, without switching between the two.
  • Sliding Plate + Rack — sliding rail with 120 mm of fore-and-aft adjustment.

With the Sliding version, move the top case forward when riding alone to centralize the weight and reduce handlebar oscillation at high speeds, or backward when carrying a passenger to give them more seating space. It unlocks with a button and locks again automatically: no tools required.

Maximum load indicated by LOBOO for the Sliding version: 10 kg on asphalt, 8 kg on dirt roads.

The top case is not included with either version. Compatible with the Ducati Desert X from 2023.

Why choose it
  • Six compatible top cases:PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T, TIBET T36T, in black or silver.
  • Dedicated to the Desert X:mounts on the manufacturer's designated fixing points.
  • Complements the side racks:the plate works on the rear subframe, the JP581B racks on the sides.
Who is it recommended for

How to choose between the two versions

  • Plate + Rack: fixed position. This is suitable if you almost always travel alone or almost always with a passenger, without alternating.
  • Sliding Plate + Rack: sliding rail with 120 mm of adjustment. Forward when alone, to centralise mass and reduce sway at high speeds; backward with a passenger, to free up space on the seat.

The Sliding plate unlocks with a button and re-locks itself in the new position, without tools. Maximum load indicated by LOBOO: 10 kg on asphalt, 8 kg on dirt roads.

The top case is a separate item in both versions.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and notes

  • The top case is not included in the delivery.
  • Observe the maximum load on the rear subframe indicated by Ducati: the limit includes the plate and loaded top case.
  • Re-check the tightenings after the first 100-200 km.
  • The load must not cover the license plate and rear lights or protrude beyond the limits of the Highway Code.

How does it work, in detail?

Six compatible top cases, PIKE TRACKER and TIBET

Six compatible top cases, PIKE TRACKER and TIBET

The plate provides access to six top-case options: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T and TIBET T36T, each available in black or silver. It is the base onto which the top case attaches, and the top case must be purchased separately.

It works in combination with the JP581B side frames: the plate on the rear subframe and the frames on the sides. Together, they complete the luggage system for the Desert X.

You are a top case, and the load must be observed.

You are a top case, and the load must be observed.

The plate opens access to six codes: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T, TIBET T36T, in black or silver. The P45T carries the full-face helmet, while the P36T and T36T keep the rear compact.

Ducati specifies a maximum load on the rear subframe that includes the plate, top case, and contents: it is the highest and rearmost point, and exceeding it affects stability.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

What is the difference between a Plate and a Sliding Plate?

The Sliding features a sliding rail with 120 mm of adjustment: move the top case forward when riding alone to centralize the weight and reduce high-speed wobble, or backward when carrying a passenger to give them more space. It unlocks with a button and locks itself again, without tools. The standard version is fixed. LOBOO’s specified maximum load for the Sliding is 10 kg on asphalt and 8 kg on unpaved roads.

Which panniers can I mount on these frames?

Three combinations: the aluminum PIKE TRACKER P35L+P30R in black or silver, and the 40+30-liter semi-rigid WANDERER BCB4030TBK bags. The cases are a separate item and are not included with the frames.

Are aluminum suitcases or soft-sided ones better?

Aluminum protects the load better and has keyed locks, but it is heavier and has rigid edges in case of a fall. The WANDERER semi-rigid cases weigh less, absorb impacts better, and are more forgiving in tight passages. The frames are the same, so you can decide later as well.

Which top cases does this plate accept?

Six codes: PIKE TRACKER P45T and P36T and TIBET T36T, each in a black or silver finish. The top case is not included and must be purchased separately.

Can I install the plate and side frames together?

Yes, they are complementary products: the plate mounts to the rear rack for the top case, while the JP581B racks mount on the sides for the panniers. Together, they complete the luggage system for the Desert X. Always check the maximum load specified by Ducati in the manual.

Does the kit include frames and cases?

Yes: this page offers the complete system, JP581B frames plus a pair of PIKE TRACKER P35L and P30R cases in the selected finish. If you already have the frames installed, you can purchase just the cases from the PIKE TRACKER series page.
