Description CANsmart accessory controller for KTM 890 and 1290 Adventure from 2021

The control unit that uses your KTM CANbus to control up to four accessories from the original handlebar buttons, without adding switches or loose relays under the seat. It plugs into the standard connectors: no cutting or drilling required.

Four circuits rated at 10 A continuous each, 30 A total, preconfigured for two sets of DENALI auxiliary lights, a SoundBomb horn, and the B6 brake light, all configurable through the CANsmart Accessory Manager software. This version also includes the horn activation wire.

Compatible motorcycles: all KTM 890 models from 2020 onward and all 1290 models from 2021 onward.

Two stated limitations on the 890: the auxiliary brake light is activated only by the front brake lever, and the KTM dongle functions are unavailable. For 1290 models up to 2020, 1190, 1090, 1050, and 790 models, use code DNLWHS13000 instead.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha una KTM 890 o una 1290 dal 2021 e vuole allestirla con più di un accessorio elettrico. Sulle 890 tieni presenti due limiti dichiarati da DENALI: la luce freno ausiliaria si attiva solo con la leva del freno anteriore e le funzioni del dongle KTM non sono disponibili.

Se la tua KTM è precedente — 1290 fino al 2020, 1190, 1090, 1050 o 790 — ti serve il codice DNLWHS13000, che tra l'altro sblocca le funzioni del dongle KTM sui modelli maggiori.

Four accessories controlled by the Wonder Wheel

The control unit connects to the motorcycle’s CAN bus and provides four circuits for accessories. From then on, auxiliary lights, the horn, and the brake light can be switched on, switched off, and adjusted using the BMW Wonder Wheel, with no additional switches on the handlebar and no loose relays under the seat.

By connecting the control unit to the computer with the included micro USB cable, the CANsmart Accessory Manager software opens up dozens of settings: flashing with the high beams, strobing with the horn, automatic shutoff with the turn signals, an electronic fuse for each circuit, five-level heated clothing control, and activation only when the engine is running.

Is it suitable for my KTM?

This is the control unit for the new platform: all KTM 890 models from 2020 onward and all 1290 models from 2021 onward. If you have a 1290 from 2020 or earlier, a 1190, 1090, 1050, or 790, you need code DNLWHS13000. On the 890 models, two functions are limited: the auxiliary brake light activates only with the front lever, and the KTM dongle functions are unavailable.

What’s the difference between GEN I and GEN II?

This is the GEN II, with more available current and more settings. DENALI stopped developing new features for GEN I devices in February 2024: if you find a cheaper GEN I controller out there, be aware that it no longer receives updates.

Do you need to know how to work on the electrical system?

No. The control unit plugs into the motorcycle’s original connectors: nothing needs to be cut or drilled. The part requiring the most attention is reaching the connection point, which is located differently on each model: the official DENALI manual shows it step by step.

Can I connect non-DENALI accessories to it?

Yes. The four circuits come preconfigured for DENALI accessories, but each can be reconfigured through the software and supports 10 A continuously: you can connect a USB socket, GPS, dashcam, heated grips, or any other accessory within that limit.

Premium upgrade on my BMW GS

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch.
