Description SAE Cable for Motorcycle Battery with LED Charge Indicator – 50 or 120 cm

Same principle as the classic SAE cable: the ring terminals remain attached to the battery terminals, while the SAE connector stays accessible, so you don't have to remove the seat or fairings every time you connect it.

It also features an LED on the connector: press the button to check the battery status at a glance, without a tester.

How to read the LED

  • Green: above 12.6 V, battery in good condition
  • Yellow: between 12.0 and 12.6 V, partially discharged, recharging recommended
  • Red: below 12.0 V, discharged, recharge immediately

Which one to choose

The only difference is the cable length, not the function. Measure the route from the battery to the point where you want the connector to emerge: if it's under 50 cm, the short version will work; beyond that, the long version is recommended.

If you don't need the LED and want to spend less, there's the basic version of the SAE cable, with an 18 AWG conductor and a 15 A fuse.

Who is it recommended for

E la scelta giusta se:

  • la moto resta ferma a lungo e vuoi tenere d'occhio la batteria senza tirare fuori il tester
  • usi un mantenitore in inverno e sei stanco di smontare la sella
  • hai gia avuto una batteria che ti ha lasciato a piedi e vuoi accorgertene prima
  • ti serve un punto di alimentazione fisso per compressore o presa USB in viaggio

Non e la scelta giusta se: devi alimentare carichi oltre i 10 A, come faretti ad alto assorbimento o piu dispositivi insieme. In quel caso serve una centralina di distribuzione. E se il LED non ti interessa, la versione base del cavo SAE costa meno.

The connector has an LED with a button: press it and immediately read the charge status, without a tester and without opening anything.

  • Green: above 12.6 V, the battery is in good condition and does not need charging
  • Yellow: between 12.0 and 12.6 V, partially discharged; it is better to connect the maintainer
  • Red: below 12.0 V, discharged; it needs to be recharged immediately

It is the difference between noticing a battery losing charge before setting off and discovering it in front of the garage.

The two Y-ring terminals attach to the battery terminals and stay there. The SAE connector, on the other hand, can be disconnected and reconnected by hand, without tools: plug it in and it works immediately.

It’s the difference between installing an accessory once and reconnecting it every time you charge.

Any device with an SAE interface, not just LOBOO. The LOBOO range lists four that are already available:

Both the male and female connectors have a protective cap. When closed, it keeps water out and prevents contact oxidation and short circuits: this is what the manufacturer’s stated IPX5 rating is based on.

IPX5 means protection against water jets, not immersion: the connection must not be left underwater.

The core is made of pure copper with a 16 AWG cross-section: more substantial than that of a standard trickle-charger cable, resulting in lower charging resistance and greater durability under repeated bending.

The outer sheath is made of high-temperature-resistant insulating PVC, designed to withstand proximity to the engine.

The fuse holder is inline on the red cable, sealed, with a snap-on cover that opens without tools. Inside is a mini blade fuse, the standard size you can find at any auto parts store.

It protects against overloads and short circuits: if something downstream shorts out, the fuse blows instead of the motorcycle's electrical system.

What’s the difference compared with the SAE cable without an indicator?

Two things. The first is the LED on the connector, which lets you see the battery voltage at a glance. The second is the cable: here, the wire gauge is 16 AWG with a stated capacity of 10 A, while the basic version has 18 AWG and a 15 A fuse. If you don’t need the charge-level reading, the basic version costs less.

How do you read the LED?

Three colors, three thresholds specified by the manufacturer: green above 12.6 V, yellow between 12.0 and 12.6 V, red below 12.0 V. The reading should be taken with the engine off and the motorcycle stationary for a few hours; otherwise, you will measure the alternator’s charging voltage rather than the battery’s voltage.

What length should I choose?

Measure the route from the battery terminals to the point where you want the connector to emerge. Under 50 cm, the short version (CSAE-20) is sufficient; if you need to route it around the frame or reach under the seat from the opposite side, choose the 120 cm version (CSAE-20L). The function and electrical specifications are identical.

Does the LED stay on all the time?

No. Reading is activated by pressing the button on the connector: the LED does not stay on by itself.

How much current can I draw?

The manufacturer specifies 10 A, that is, approximately 120 W at 12 V. It covers maintainers, chargers, USB outlets, and compressors. For high-consumption spotlights or multiple devices in parallel, add the currents together and, if you exceed 10 A, use a dedicated distribution unit such as the CB10 or CB20.

How is it mounted on the battery?

The two ring terminals are fitted onto the battery posts under the original nuts, observing polarity: red to positive, black to negative. Then route the cable away from hot or moving parts and position the connector in a sheltered but accessible location. For the terminal tightening torque, refer to your motorcycle’s manual.

Can I leave it installed in the rain?

Yes, it is designed to remain installed year-round: the manufacturer rates it IPX5, meaning it is protected against water jets and resistant to heat and aging. IPX5 is not an immersion rating: the connection should not be left underwater.

Does it work with chargers from other brands?

Yes. SAE is a standard, so the cable connects to any 12 V maintainer, charger, or accessory equipped with the same interface. Just check the device’s polarity and make sure its current draw stays within 10 A.

Is the product covered by a warranty?

Yes: a 24-month statutory consumer warranty of conformity, supplemented by LOBOO's 12-month commercial product warranty. In the event of a defect, we handle the claim with the manufacturer.

Can I return the product if it isn’t suitable?

Yes, you are entitled to return it within 14 days of receiving the last item in the order. The product must be intact and in its original packaging: contact us and we will guide you through the process.
