Description Motorcycle Tool Box 2,3 L - IP66 with Key Lock

A rigid 2.3-liter box that makes use of the empty space inside the pannier rack, where there is currently nothing. It fits keys, a tire repair kit, and the bare essentials for an enforced stop, locked and protected from water with an IP66 rating.

Why it makes sense

  • Tools stay out of the bags. Keys and pliers get greasy and puncture the bottom of soft luggage. Here they stay separate and are accessible without emptying half a pannier on the roadside.
  • IP66 protection declared by the manufacturer. Completely dust-tight and resistant to water jets from any direction. It is not an immersion rating.
  • Cylinder lock, not a clip. The lid cannot be opened without a key, and upon request the manufacturer can supply it with the same key combination as LOBOO aluminum panniers, provided you give them the key number.
  • No modifications to the motorcycle. The bracket tightens with clamps onto the existing tubes: no drilling the frame, no welding, and no trace if you remove it one day.
  • Doesn't take up space at the rear. It mounts flush with the frame profile, so it does not make the motorcycle wider or interfere with the side panniers.
  • Quick release. The box comes off without removing the clamps.

Before ordering, take two measurements of the frame

Compatibility depends not on the motorcycle model but on the pannier rack. You need the tube diameter, which must be 18 mm, and the frame's internal clear height, which must be between 212 and 262 mm. The clamps work on a 161 mm center-to-center distance.

The manufacturer declares compatibility with LOBOO frames from the TIBET and PIKE TRACKER series, as well as frames from other brands that meet those two dimensions. Choose the mounting side, right or left, based on the motorcycle's structure.

One thing to know about installation

You choose which side to mount the box on, and to do so, the mounting holes must be drilled in the box: the manual requires this, and a Ø 5.5 mm drill bit is included in the package, along with a 3 mm Allen key. The holes are drilled in the box, not the motorcycle. The manual provides two alternative mounting diagrams and tightening torques of 5 N·m for the M5 screws and 3 N·m for the M3 screws, to be applied in sequence only after all adjustments have been completed.

Usage limits

The manufacturer prohibits overloading and requires the box to be securely fastened to the pannier rack at all times: no other anchoring point is provided. It is intended for tools and small spare parts, not heavy loads. Check the tightness before setting off and again after the first few dozen kilometers.

The tools shown in the manufacturer's images are for demonstration purposes and are not included. The LOBOO BGJB03 tool bag is not included either; it is sold separately, and the internal compartment is sized to accommodate it when folded.

Why choose it
  • Free up space in your bags:tools and keys outside the main luggage, where they can get dirty and puncture bags.
  • IP66 Waterproof:tools stay dry even when exposed to bad weather.
  • Lockable:lock for stops, with quick release when you need to remove it.
  • Universal application:attaches to the side structure, typically on pannier racks.
Who is it recommended for

It's useful if:

  • You carry tools when traveling and they take up valuable space in your bags
  • You want to keep them separate from clothing and electronics
  • You have pannier racks on which to attach a side box

Note:The CGJX-2 replaces the previous 2.3-liter CGJX-1 model in the catalog. Please check for a suitable anchor point on your setup before purchasing.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and Notes

  • Tools are not included: the product is the box only.
  • Check for a suitable anchoring point on the motorcycle's side frame.
  • Check the fastening before setting off and after the first few dozen kilometers.
  • The load must not cover the license plate and lights, nor protrude beyond the limits of the Highway Code.

How is it made, and how is it assembled?

The tools outside the bags, in a watertight box

The tools outside the bags, in a watertight box

Wrenches and pliers are the worst things to keep in soft luggage: they get everything greasy, puncture the bottom of the bags, and always end up underneath everything else. The CGJX-2 moves them to a dedicated 2.3-liter compartment on the side of the motorcycle, where you can reach them without unloading anything.

It fits into space where there is currently nothing: the empty area inside the pannier rack. No extra bulk, no straps, no elastic net.

IP66: dust out, water out

IP66: dust out, water out

The manufacturer declares an IP66 rating, achieved through the enclosure’s structural sealing. The two digits should be read separately: the first six means complete protection against dust; the second six means resistance to powerful water jets from any direction.

In practice, this covers heavy rain during highway travel, dust on an unpaved track, and splashes when crossing shallow water. It does not cover immersion: IP66 is not a submersion rating, and the case should not be kept underwater.

A cylinder lock, not a clip

A cylinder lock, not a clip

The lid opens only with the key. It’s the difference between leaving the motorcycle outside a café and having to keep an eye on it through the window: the tool kit is worth a few hundred euros and sits visibly on the side.

The manufacturer also allows you to match the lock to the same combination as the LOBOO aluminum cases, so you can travel with just one key. This must be requested when placing the order by providing the cases’ key number.

Inside the frame profile, without taking up space at the rear

Inside the frame profile, without taking up space at the rear

The box mounts flush with the frame, inside its profile. It does not widen the motorcycle, protrude, or interfere with the side cases or rear luggage rack.

The internal compartment measures 272 by 89 by 175 millimetres and is sized to accommodate the folded LOBOO BGJB03 tool bag, which measures 22 by 12 by 5 centimetres when closed. The bag is sold separately.

Clamps on existing pipes, no drilling

Clamps on existing pipes, no drilling

The bracket clamps onto the 18-millimeter tubes of the luggage-rack frame. No drilling, no welding, no permanent modifications: if you remove the case one day, the frame is left without a trace.

The adjustment accommodates frames with an internal clear height of 212 to 262 millimeters, so the same case stays with the motorcycle even if you change frames. And the quick-release design detaches the box without touching the clamps when you need all the space for your luggage.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

How do I know if it fits my motorcycle?

It does not depend on the motorcycle model, but on the luggage rack you have installed. You need two measurements: the tube diameter, which must be 18 mm, and the frame’s internal clearance height, which must be between 212 and 262 mm. Measure them with calipers and a tape measure before ordering. If you prefer, contact us with the make and model of your motorcycle and the luggage rack you have fitted, and we’ll check them together.

Do I need to drill or weld something on the motorcycle?

No. It is secured with clamps that tighten around the existing tubes of the luggage rack. The manufacturer states that installation requires no drilling, welding, or permanent modifications. If you remove the box later, no trace is left on the rack.

How much fits inside?

The stated usable capacity is 2.3 liters, in a long, narrow compartment measuring 272 × 89 × 175 mm. It’s the right size for a tubeless repair kit, a basic set of wrenches, a few cable ties, and a pair of work gloves. It isn’t designed for heavy tools or bulky parts; for those, you’ll need tool cases.

What do I find in the package?

The manufacturer states: one CGJX-2 cassette with a rigid body, one mounting bracket complete with clamping hardware, and the lock with its corresponding keys. That is everything needed to install it on a compatible frame.

Are the tools included?

No. The tools shown in the manufacturer's photographs are for demonstration purposes only and are not included. The product consists solely of the box with its bracket and lock.

Does it fit inside the LOBOO BGJB03 tool bag?

Yes: the manufacturer states that the internal compartment is specifically sized to hold the folded BGJB03 tool bag. However, the bag is not included with the toolbox and is sold separately. When folded, it measures 22 × 12 × 5 cm.

Does it really withstand rain and washing?

The manufacturer declares an IP66 rating, achieved through a structural seal: the first digit, 6, indicates complete protection against dust, while the second digit, 6, indicates resistance to powerful water jets from any direction. It therefore covers heavy rain, mud, and splashes from shallow-water crossings. IP66 does not mean immersion: the case is not designed to remain underwater.

Can I use the same key as my LOBOO suitcases?

Yes. The manufacturer can supply the top case with a lock matched to the same combination as the LOBOO aluminum panniers, so you can travel with just one key. The condition is that you provide the panniers’ key number when placing the order: include it in the order notes or email it to us immediately after purchase. Without that number, the top case will arrive with its own dedicated key.

How long does it take to remove it when I need the space?

The pannier has a quick-release design: it detaches from the bracket without removing the clamps from the frame. If you need all the frame space for luggage over a weekend, you can take it off and put it back on without readjusting it.

Does it mount on the right or left?

Both. The manufacturer advises choosing the side based on the motorcycle’s structure: consider where the luggage rack leaves free space and does not interfere with the exhaust, wheel, or kickstand. On most adventure bikes, the more convenient side is the one opposite the exhaust.

How much weight can I put inside it?

The manufacturer does not specify a maximum load in kilograms, but expressly prohibits overloading and requires the case to be securely fastened to the luggage rack frame at all times. The practical guideline is common sense: light tools and small spare parts are fine; heavy, concentrated loads are not, because on uneven roads the weight puts stress on the clamps. Check the tightness before setting off and again after the first few dozen kilometres.

Does it also work with non-LOBOO luggage racks?

The manufacturer declares compatibility with its own TIBET and PIKE TRACKER series frames, and adds that the cassette is compatible with frames from other brands provided they have an 18 mm diameter tube. However, LOBOO does not publish a list of verified third-party brands: if you have a frame from another brand, compatibility is determined by measuring the tube and the clearance height.

What’s the difference between CGJX-2, CGJX-1, and CGJX-281?

The CGJX-2 is the second series and replaces the CGJX-1, which the manufacturer has discontinued; the two series share the same internal item code and functional dimensions. Some LOBOO technical panels still show the designation of the first series. The CGJX-281, on the other hand, is a variant intended for those using the LOBOO TIBET-series frame on a Honda CB400X, and it is currently not orderable through our supply channel: if you need that one, contact us and we will check availability.
