It is the base that allows a top case to be mounted on the rear luggage rack of the GS Adventure models, which have a different geometry from the standard GS models and require a dedicated code.

Check the version and year

The manual states BMW R 1200 GS Adventure from 2014 and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure from 2019. Standard versions require the JP071W plate, which has its own page: the two are not interchangeable.

How it is attached

The plate uses two clamps that tighten onto the 18 mm tubes of the original luggage rack, plus two dedicated side brackets, one right and one left. It is secured on top with two M6×16 screws and four M6×35 screws.

Nothing needs to be removed from the motorcycle: the manual does not require any removal; all steps are for installation only. The manufacturer specifies that the screws must not be fully tightened during assembly: first complete the adjustments, then apply the torque in sequence, 12 N·m on all M6 screws. The wrench is included, and the manual is available in eight languages, including Italian.

Which top cases can be mounted

The manual lists the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET and CONQUEROR series for this plate. The top case is not included: this page concerns the plate only, and LOBOO aluminum top cases can be mounted only on LOBOO plates and luggage racks.

The rear load has a limit

LOBOO does not specify a maximum load for the plate itself: the limit stated by BMW in the owner's manual for the rear subframe applies, and includes the plate, top case and contents. Recheck the fasteners after the first 100–200 km and make sure the top case does not cover the license plate or rear lights.

The plate material is not specified by any LOBOO source, including the manual.

The GS Adventure has a different luggage rack from the standard GS, and the JP072W is built to those dimensions. The manual lists it for the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series, in black or silver finish.

The JP072W is designed for the R 1200 GS Adventure from 2014 onward and the R 1250 GS Adventure from 2019 onward. The standard GS has a different subframe and requires the JP071W.

This is the check to perform before ordering: the two codes are not interchangeable.

On the Adventure, which is already taller and heavier to begin with, the weight at the rear is noticeable when maneuvering and changing direction.

  2. Appoggia la piastra e fissala con le due viti M6x16 e le quattro M6x35.
  3. Non serrare a fondo subito: completa prima tutte le regolazioni, poi dai la coppia di 12 N.m in sequenza su tutte le viti M6.

The manual lists the plate for the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series, each available in black or silver: the same coverage as the version for standard GS models. The top case is not included and must be purchased separately.

Can I install it on a non-Adventure R 1250 GS?

No. For the standard R 1200 GS and R 1250 GS, the JP071W mounting plate is required and is available on a separate page. The mounting points of the rear subframe do not align.
