Description KTM 790-890 Adventure Side Cases

The LOBOO side cases for KTM 790 and 890 Adventure are a complete system: JP221B racks plus the pair of PIKE TRACKER P35L and P30R aluminum cases, in the finish of your choice.

They fit both engine sizes, in standard and R versions: 790 and 890 Adventure share the same chassis; the engine is different.

Key features

  • Rack and case kit in a single order
  • High-strength aluminum, waterproof, with keyed locks
  • Two finishes: black or silver

The difference in capacity between the two sides is due to the exhaust routing: the narrower right case keeps the bike compact in difficult passages.

If you prefer semi-rigid cases, the same racks fit the WANDERER 40+30-liter cases.

Why choose it
  • Complete system:frames and a pair of panniers in a single order, no parts to search for separately.
  • PIKE TRACKER aluminum panniers:key locks and waterproof seal.
  • Two finishes:black or silver, with the same construction.
  • Geometry designed around the exhaust:the narrower right pannier keeps the bike compact.
Who is it recommended for

Compatibility:KTM 790 and 890 Adventure, standard and R versions. The two bikes share the same chassis: the engine changes, but not the rear subframe.

  • If starting from scratch:this is the most straightforward solution, everything compatible in one order.
  • If you already have JP221B frames:purchase only the cases from the PIKE TRACKER series page.
  • If you prefer soft bags:the same frames accept the 40+30 liter WANDERER bags.
Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and Notes

  • The kit includes side frames and a pair of panniers: the top case and its plate are not included.
  • Observe the maximum load per side frame indicated by KTM in the motorcycle's manual.
  • Recheck the tightening after the first 100-200 km and periodically with off-road use.
  • The load must not cover the license plate and rear lights, nor protrude beyond the limits set by the Highway Code.

Key Specifications

  • Quantity: 3 PCS

  • Water resistance: Waterproof IP68

  • Colors: BLACK or SILVER

  • Material: Steel

  • Material: Aluminum

How does it work, in detail?

Why 35 on the left and 30 on the right?

Why 35 on the left and 30 on the right?

The exhaust runs along the right side of the 790 Adventure. The narrower case leaves the necessary space and prevents the motorcycle from becoming wider on that side.

On a motorcycle with a lowered fuel tank and a rally-oriented design, that difference is noticeable on winding sections.

One kit for the 790 and 890 Adventure

One kit for the 790 and 890 Adventure

KTM 790 and 890 Adventure share the same chassis: the engine differs, not the rear subframe. Frames and luggage fit both models, in standard and R versions.

It is also an advantage when it comes to resale: if you switch from the 790 to the 890, the system goes with you.

Aluminum, key locks, waterproofness

Aluminum, key locks, waterproofness

The PIKE TRACKER cases are made of high-strength aluminum alloy, with perimeter seals and keyed locks on each case.

It is the most popular series in the LOBOO range: the same case can be mounted on more than fifteen different motorcycles by changing only the frame.

The JP221B frames are included

The JP221B frames are included

You don’t need to look for them separately: the JP221B frames are included in the order and mount onto the attachment points provided by KTM.

If you already have the frames installed, you can purchase just the cases from the PIKE TRACKER series page.

Do the same frames accommodate semi-rigid ones?

Do the same frames accommodate semi-rigid ones?

If in the future you prefer the 40+30-liter WANDERER cases, you do not need to rebuild the frame: the JP221B racks support them. This is compatibility we verified ourselves, based on the 18 mm tube requirement that LOBOO specifies for those cases.

Aluminum provides better protection and can be locked, while the semi-rigid cases weigh less and absorb impacts when dropped.

Black or silver, same construction

Black or silver, same construction

The two finishes make no technical difference: same aluminum, same locks, same sealing. The choice is purely aesthetic.

On KTM orange, black tones it down, while silver creates contrast: it depends on how much you want the cases to stand out.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

What exactly does the kit include?

JP221B side frames plus the pair of PIKE TRACKER P35L and P30R panniers in the selected finish. If you already have the frames installed, you can purchase just the panniers from the PIKE TRACKER series page.

Is it really suitable for the KTM 890 Adventure too?

The frame manual lists the KTM 790 Adventure and 790 Adventure R from 2019 onward. The manufacturer does not mention the 890: we indicate it as compatible because it shares its chassis with the 790, but this is our own verification, not a LOBOO statement.

We prefer to tell you openly: if you have an 890, write to us before ordering and we will ask the distributor for confirmation. For a thousand-euro kit, it is worthwhile for both of us.

Why do the two suitcases have different capacities, 35 and 30 liters?

Because the exhaust runs along the right side, the narrower pannier keeps the motorcycle from becoming too wide and reduces the risk of contact. It’s a design choice, not a limitation of the range.

Do the suitcases lock with a key?

Yes, with a five-pin cylinder lock that can be removed and replaced without changing the suitcase. The key is retractable and has a number stamped on it: write it down, because it allows you to request a duplicate if you lose both keys.

How much does the installed kit weigh, and how far does it protrude?

The empty cases alone weigh 11.6 kg: 6 kg for the 35-liter case and 5.6 kg for the 30-liter case. The frame and luggage must be added to these weights.

With the handles and hardware installed, the external length of each case is 498 mm: this is the measurement to use to determine whether the motorcycle will fit through where you usually keep it.

Can I also add the top-case mounting plate?

Yes: the JPT221W top-case plate is available for this motorcycle as a separate item with its own code, already listed in the Endurrad catalog. The frames in this kit remain the same, so you do not need to redo anything that has already been installed.

Can I mount luggage from other brands on them, or these on other frames?

No, in either direction. LOBOO’s documentation is explicit: LOBOO aluminum cases can only be mounted on LOBOO racks and are not compatible with racks from other brands. The same document specifies that the racks are installed without permanent modifications to the motorcycle.

What are the included threaded inserts used for?

The frame kit includes two T-M8 threaded inserts specified in the parts list: they create the mounting points for screwing in the bolts where the motorcycle does not already have a ready-made thread. It is the only frame in the range to include them.

They must be positioned carefully because, once in place, they bear the load on the side. The manual shows their location in the installation view.

What torque should the frame screws be tightened to?

The manual specifies 14 N·m for the M6 bolts and 22 N·m for the M8 bolts: these are the highest values among the LOBOO frames we carry.

If you have already installed a LOBOO frame on another motorcycle, don't rely on memory: on the Norden 901, for example, they are 12 and 20 N·m. A torque wrench is required; it is not included.

Should we drill the motorcycle?

No. The manual does not indicate any drilling: the frame is secured to the existing mounting points, and the modification is reversible. The original parts removed must be reinstalled according to the torque specifications indicated by KTM.

Are the hardware and tools included?

Yes. The frame bill of materials lists thirteen items: the two halves, the crossbar, two types of spacer, two threaded inserts, four screw sizes between M6 and M8, twelve washers, and the service tool.

The only tool you need is a torque wrench.

Is the product covered by a warranty?

Yes: the 24-month statutory warranty of conformity provided for by the Consumer Code applies. In the event of a defect, we will handle the claim with the manufacturer.
