How long does it take to install them, and do I need a mechanic?

It is a job within the reach of anyone with a torque wrench and a little mechanical skill: remove the handlebar’s original clamps, insert the LOBOO CJG071 risers, and reassemble by following the sequence in the manual.The torque wrench really is necessary, because these are the bolts that secure the handlebar. The CJG071 installation manual specifies 23 N·m for all three supplied M8 bolts—namely the M8×30, M8×35, and flat-head M8×35—and instructs you to apply threadlocker before final tightening. If you don’t have the tool, it’s better to rely on a workshop.

Does the original handlebar remain the same?

Yes. The risers do not replace the handlebar: they fit between the steering plate and the clamps, and you reinstall the handlebar you already have.The controls, grips, bar-end weights, and handguards also remain in place: nothing needs to be removed or replaced.

Will they fit if I’m 1.70 m tall? What if I’m 1.90 m tall?

It’s not just a matter of height. Above 1.85 meters, the benefit is almost always noticeable, because the stock handlebar forces you to hunch your shoulders.But even shorter riders can benefit if they often ride standing on the foot pegs or experience wrist and neck pain on long journeys. If you’re comfortable as you are and have never had any discomfort, you probably don’t need them.

Does it change anything about the ride besides comfort?

The higher, closer handlebar shifts the torso’s center of gravity slightly backward and makes standing riding feel more natural, as the body does not have to lean forward to reach the grips.During slow maneuvers, the greater leverage provides a more immediate sense of control. This does not alter the bike’s chassis dynamics: its geometry, suspension, and handling remain unchanged.

With the risers installed, will the tank bag and GPS mount still fit?

In most cases, yes, but the handlebar moves back by twenty-six millimeters, and on some configurations the space between the handlebar and the tank is reduced.If you use a bulky tank bag or a navigation mount installed in the center position, after installation check the steering at full lock on both sides with the bag mounted and full.

How often should the fasteners be rechecked?

The manual calls for periodic checks of the mounting screws, with the first one to be carried out after the first few dozen kilometers.That is why threadlocker is included in the package: it should be applied during assembly, after positioning all the components and before final tightening.

Can I return to the original setup?

Yes. Installation uses the existing mounting points and requires no drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications: reinstall the stock clamps and the motorcycle returns exactly to its original condition.This is an important consideration if the motorcycle is leased or if you plan to resell it.

How does it work, in detail?

How much higher and farther back do the handlebars move on the R 1200 GS, R 1250 GS, and S 1000 XR?

Two pieces that change the riding position

On standard GS models, the handlebar is designed for a seated, relaxed riding position. Riders who spend many hours in the saddle, are tall, or frequently stand on the foot pegs end up hunching their shoulders and putting weight on their wrists, so after a few hundred kilometers, fatigue sets in in the arms before the legs.

The risers are two aluminum blocks that fit between the top triple clamp and the handlebar clamps. They do not modify anything on the motorcycle: they replace an existing connection and move the handlebar to where it is needed.

The part number is CJG071 and it fits three BMW model families: the R 1200 GS and Adventure from 2013 to 2018, the R 1250 GS and Adventure from 2018 to 2023, and the S 1000 XR from 2015 to 2020.

Thirty millimeters up, twenty-six toward you

LOBOO states a thirty-millimeter rise and a twenty-six-millimeter setback. These are the two measurements that matter, and they should be read together: the handlebar does not merely rise; it also moves closer to your torso.

The practical effect is that your shoulders stay open and your wrists work at a less acute angle. Standing on the footpegs, you notice the difference immediately because you no longer have to lean forward to reach the grips.

The geometry is fixed: there are no intermediate positions to choose from and no adjustments after installation. Thirty and twenty-six are what you get.

High-strength, precision-machined aluminum

The manufacturer states that it is made of high-strength aluminum alloy with precision machining. For a component positioned between the steering plate and the handlebar, this is not merely an aesthetic detail: the part transmits every stress coming from the front end.

The finish is silver, close to the tone of the standard BMW plates. Once installed, the risers are barely noticeable: they look more like part of the motorcycle than an added accessory. LOBOO does not specify the type of surface treatment.

Six screws, one threadlocker, no modifications

The LOBOO manual lists the contents of the package item by item: left riser, right riser, two M8 × 30 screws, four M8 × 35 screws, two M8 × 35 flat-head screws, and threadlocker. The four 35 mm screws can be replaced with the motorcycle’s original screws.

Installation uses the existing mounting points: no drilling, cutting, or brackets to adapt. To return to the original setup, reinstall the stock clamps.

Cables and pipes: the check that matters

Thirty millimeters is a modest lift, and on GS models the wiring usually has enough slack. But the check should still be performed, and it is simple: with the motorcycle stationary, turn the handlebars fully to both sides and inspect the cables, brake lines, and clutch lines.

Nothing should pull, bind, or rub against the tank. If anything is under tension, the routing must be revised before getting back on the road: that is why LOBOO asks you to check everything again after the first few kilometers.

Limiti d'uso e responsabilità

I riser modificano la posizione del manubrio rispetto alla configurazione omologata dalla casa madre. La normativa italiana richiede che le modifiche non alterino le caratteristiche costruttive indicate sul documento di circolazione: valuta con il tuo riferimento tecnico se la tua situazione richiede annotazioni.
Dopo l'installazione lo sterzo deve ruotare liberamente fino a fondo corsa da entrambi i lati, senza che cavi, tubi freno o frizione lavorino in tensione o struscino.
Rispetta le coppie di serraggio dichiarate dal produttore e applica il frenafiletti fornito: sono viti che vincolano il manubrio alla piastra di sterzo.
Il produttore chiede un controllo periodico dei fissaggi, oltre a quello dopo i primi chilometri.
Il montaggio non incide sulla ciclistica: geometria, sospensioni e impianto frenante restano quelli originali.

È la scelta giusta se:

Fai viaggi lunghi e senti polsi, spalle o cervicale a fine giornata
Guidi spesso in piedi sulle pedane, su sterrato o strade bianche
Sei alto e il manubrio di serie ti costringe a chiudere le braccia

È da valutare con attenzione se:

La tua moto è fuori dagli anni indicati: su R 1300 GS serve il codice CJG131, sulle R 1200 GS precedenti al 2013 la piastra è diversa
Cerchi una regolazione fine: qui le misure sono fisse, 30 mm e 26 mm, senza posizioni intermedie
Usi una borsa serbatoio ingombrante: il manubrio arretra di 26 mm e lo spazio si riduce

Will they fit my motorcycle? Which models and years?

The LOBOO manual lists three families: BMW R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure from 2013 to 2018, BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure from 2018 to 2023, and BMW S 1000 XR from 2015 to 2020.

The years matter: on R 1200 GS models made before 2013, the steering plate is different, and the R 1300 GS requires a different part number. If your motorcycle falls on the boundary of a range, send us the license plate or VIN and we’ll verify it before you order.

How much does the handlebar actually rise?

Thirty millimeters in height and twenty-six millimeters of setback toward the rider. These are fixed values specified by the manufacturer: there are no variants with different measurements or adjustments after installation.

Three centimeters may not sound like much, but the difference in the angle of your shoulders and wrists is noticeable, especially when standing on the footpegs.

Do they also fit the R 1300 GS?

No. The R 1300 GS and the R 1300 GS Adventure have a different steering plate and require code CJG131, which you can find on a dedicated page.

This code, CJG071, only goes up to the R 1250 GS.

Do I need to lengthen the cables, brake lines, or clutch lines?

With a thirty-millimeter rise, the original GS cables and wiring generally have sufficient slack, and the manual does not call for any replacement.

The check must still be performed: with the motorcycle stationary, turn the handlebars fully to both sides and check that the cables, hoses, and wiring do not pull tight, snag, or rub. If anything is under tension, revise the routing before riding the motorcycle.

What’s in the box?

Six items, as listed in the manual: the left riser, the right riser, two M8×30 screws, four M8×35 screws, two flat-head M8×35 screws, and threadlocker.

The manufacturer specifies that the four M8×35 screws can be replaced with the motorcycle’s original ones. There is no need to purchase anything separately.
