Description Barkbusters BSC-STD handlebar clamp set for straight 22 mm handlebars

The BSC-STD is Barkbusters’ clamp set for straight 22 mm handlebars: the part that clamps onto the handlebar, plus the bar-end inserts and hardware.

It is not a mounting kit

The manufacturer states it clearly: no aluminum bar and no handguard plastics. It is a component, not a complete system.

If you are starting from scratch and want to install handguards on your motorcycle, this is not the right product: you need a complete mounting kit such as the BHG-001, or directly a complete handguard with the plastics included.

When you actually need it

  • Replacement. You damaged or lost a clamp in a crash and want to put your existing system back into service without buying the bar and plastics again.
  • Adaptation. You changed your motorcycle’s handlebar and need the correct-size clamp for the bar you already have.

What you will find in the package

  • Clamps for straight 22 mm handlebars.
  • Bar-end inserts for handlebars with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm: both sizes included.
  • Mounting hardware.

What is NOT included

  • The aluminum bar, meaning the structure that supports the handguard.
  • The handguard plastics.

Why choose it
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  2. Rimuovi i contrappesi originali e, se necessario, i morsetti precedenti.
  5. Fissa la barra in alluminio al morsetto e al terminale, portala in posizione e serra.

It is not an assembly kit

  • They’re just the clamps. If you’re starting from scratch, you need a complete kit like the BHG-001.
Only the clamps, not the handguard

Only the clamps, not the handguard

The package contains the clamps, terminals, and hardware. The aluminum bar and plastic parts are not included. It is a component of the system, not the system itself: it is worth knowing this before ordering, because the name is misleading.

Terminals for two internal diameters

Terminals for two internal diameters

The end plugs fit inside the open end of the handlebar to anchor the other end of the bar. The kit includes two sizes for tubes with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm, covering most handlebars without additional parts.

When is it worth buying?

When is it worth buying?

To replace a damaged clamp in the event of a fall without buying the entire system again, or to adapt a bar you already own to 22 mm straight handlebars after changing the motorcycle's handlebars. Outside these two cases, a complete kit is required.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

What exactly does this kit contain?

Only the handlebar clamps, the bar ends for 14 mm and 18 mm inner diameters, and the hardware. The manufacturer states it plainly: no aluminum bar and no protective plastic.

Is this all I need to install the handguards on my motorcycle?

No, and it's worth saying this clearly. This isn't a complete mounting kit: it's just the part that clamps onto the handlebar. You also need the aluminum bar and the plastic components.

So what is it for?

For two things. Replace the clamps on a Barkbusters system you already have if they are damaged or lost. Or adapt a bar you own to a straight 22 mm handlebar, for example after changing the motorcycle's handlebar.

What do I need to buy if I’m starting from scratch?

Not this one. If you don't have anything yet, it's best to get a complete mounting kit like the BHG-001, which already includes the bars, clamps, and hardware, or go straight for a complete handguard with the plastics included.

What type of handlebars do you need?

A straight 22 mm handlebar, that is, 7/8 inch: uniform diameter along its entire length. Check it with calipers at the section where the clamp would go.

What are the 14 mm and 18 mm terminals?

These are the pieces that fit inside the open end of the handlebar to anchor the other end of the bar. The kit includes two sizes, for tubes with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm, covering most handlebars.

My handlebar is tapered: is that okay?

No. For tapered handlebars, the correct code is BTC-06, which has interchangeable right and left connectors to find the right position on the taper.

I broke a clamp while climbing: can I buy just this one?

Yes, and that's one of the reasons it exists. Instead of buying the whole kit again, replace the damaged part and keep the bar and plastic components.

What is the difference compared with the BTC-22?

The BTC-22 is for the same 22 mm straight handlebar, but it has a shape designed to leave more room for the cables: it is useful when the handlebar is crowded and the controls pass close to the clamp. The BSC-STD is the standard version.

Does it fit any Barkbusters bar?

It is the standard Barkbusters clamp set for straight 22 mm handlebars. If your bar comes from a motorcycle-specific or universal kit, the clamp geometry is the same. If you are unsure about your setup, write to us with the code of the kit you have installed.

Should I remove the counterweights?

Yes, because the system also anchors to the end of the handlebar using the included bar-end weights. The Barkbusters replacement for the bar-end weights is code B-066, listed in the catalog.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
