Description BMW R 1250 GS rear visibility kit with T3 and CANsmart

Code DNL07KIT010K — DENALI code DNL.07.KIT.010

Rear visibility kit for the BMW R 1250 GS and GS Adventure. Unlike the more recent visibility kits, the CANsmart control unit is included here: you do not need to already have one on the bike.

The kit includes two T3 switchback indicator pods, the CANsmart GEN II control unit for the R 1250, the license plate bracket, and the dedicated wiring harness that connects the pods to the control unit.

Each pod performs three functions in a single housing: red running light, 100% red brake light, and amber turn signal, with a 180-degree viewing angle and E-Mark approval for all three functions. The connection runs through the control unit's «Run / Brake / Turn» circuit, so nothing is tapped into the original turn signal and brake wiring.

Why choose it

Sulle GS l'allestimento luci si fa quasi sempre davanti, ma i tamponamenti arrivano da dietro. Questo kit lavora là: due pod T3 ai lati della targa che fanno posizione e stop rossi e passano ad ambra con le frecce, distribuendo la luce sulla larghezza della moto invece di concentrarla in un punto solo.

La centralina è compresa perché i pod posteriori sulle R 1250 GS funzionano correttamente solo attraverso il CANsmart. Nel kit ci sono anche le staffe e l'adattatore di cablaggio: non manca niente.

Who is it recommended for

A chi sulla R 1250 GS ha già sistemato le luci davanti e si è accorto che dietro è rimasto tutto com'era. Serve a chi fa tanta strada in coda al traffico, a chi viaggia carico con le valigie che allargano la sagoma, e a chi si ferma spesso sul ciglio.

Non è un acquisto d'impulso: il kit comprende la centralina CANsmart, che da sola vale una parte importante del prezzo. Ha senso se la centralina non ce l'hai ancora, o se vuoi che comandi anche altro — un circuito resta libero.

Se il CANsmart sulla moto ce l'hai già, conviene comprare separatamente gli indicatori T3 posteriori e le staffe portatarga.

Pod, bracket, and control unit already paired

The kit brings together the pair of rear T3 pods, the license plate brackets that position them on either side of the plate, the CANsmart control unit specific to the R 1250 GS, and the wiring adapter that connects the pods to the control unit. It is the complete set for upgrading rear visibility without modifying the original wiring.

DENALI warns that the components of a kit are shipped in separate boxes and may arrive in separate shipments.

If I already have a CANsmart installed, do I still need it?

This kit includes its control unit because the rear T3 pods use three of the four available circuits. If you already have a CANsmart with three free circuits, you can connect them to it and purchase the pods, brackets, and adapter separately. If your control unit is already occupied by the auxiliary lights, the second one is genuinely necessary: write to us and we’ll assess your bike’s setup together.

Is it better than buying the pieces separately?

Yes, on the price, but above all on the risk. A lighting setup on a GS brings together three things that need to match: the auxiliary lights, the correct mounts for that model, and the right control unit for that year. Getting one of them wrong means sending the package back and starting over. They’re already matched in the kit.

Can I assemble it myself?

Yes, if you’re comfortable with basic mechanics: there’s no need to cut or splice wires; everything plugs into the original connectors. Allow yourself a relaxed afternoon the first time, especially to route the wiring neatly under the tank.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch.
