The complete lighting setup for the BMW R 1250 GS: a pair of 7,665-lumen D7 lights each, model-specific mounts, and a CANsmart control unit for the vehicle.

The D7 is a step above the D4: a beam range that changes the way you ride at night outside built-up areas. With the CANsmart, you control them using the buttons you already have and adjust them from the Wonder Wheel.

Pay attention to the version: this kit is for the R 1250 GS. The mounts are different for the Adventure, for which a dedicated kit is available.

Attenzione alla versione: questo kit è per la R 1250 GS. Per la Adventure gli attacchi sono diversi ed esiste il kit dedicato.

Who is it recommended for

A chi macina strade extraurbane di notte con la R 1250 GS e vuole un allestimento già risolto. Il D7 è il salto che conta: 7.665 lumen per faretto e portata oltre i 450 metri, cioè vedere la curva prima di doverla impostare.

Se la moto la usi soprattutto di giorno e in città, il kit con i D4 costa meno e basta. Se invece vuoi anche luce diurna, funzione indicatore e lenti che si cambiano a bordo strada, guarda il kit con i D7 PRO.

Spotlights, bracket, and control unit already paired

Pair of D7 spotlights producing 7,665 lumens each, with an upper mount designed for the R 1250 GS and a specific CANsmart control unit. Three parts already compatible with one another.

The D7 lights feature DataDim technology and interchangeable clear, amber, and selective yellow lenses: the same concept as the D7 PRO, but with a single circuit instead of two.

The control unit plugs into the 4-pin RDC connector behind the passenger seat: no wires to cut. The auxiliary lights turn on by holding the turn-signal cancel button for three seconds and are adjusted with the Wonder Wheel from 0 to 100%.

Two of the four circuits remain free, allowing you to add a SoundBomb horn or a B6 brake light later.

Is it better than buying the pieces separately?

Yes, on the price, but above all on the risk. A lighting setup on a GS brings together three things that need to match: the auxiliary lights, the correct mounts for that model, and the right control unit for that year. Getting one of them wrong means sending the package back and starting over. They’re already matched in the kit.

What difference does having the CANsmart in the kit make?

You control the spotlights using the buttons already on your handlebar, without adding switches. On BMWs, adjustment is done via the Wonder Wheel, and the control unit connects to the diagnostic socket without altering the original wiring. That’s the difference between an accessory that’s installed and one that’s integrated.

Can I assemble it myself?

Yes, if you’re comfortable with basic mechanics: there’s no need to cut or splice wires; everything plugs into the original connectors. Allow yourself a relaxed afternoon the first time, especially to route the wiring neatly under the tank.

Premium upgrade on my BMW GS

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch. The night visibility is impressive, and the "X-Ray" mode, as they call it, makes evening riding much safer.
