An open connector on your motorcycle collects water and salt, causing the contacts to corrode even when you are not using them: when you connect something to it, it will not work. These caps close the connectors and keep them dry.
They are needed for every circuit you leave unused: a control unit with four outputs and two accessories has two connectors to cap.

Premium upgrade on my BMW GS
I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch.
