It is the base that allows a top case to be mounted on the rear subframe of the R 1200 GS and R 1250 GS. It attaches to the original mounting points: no drilling, no adapter bracket, and no motorcycle parts need to be removed.

Check the year before ordering

The manual specifies BMW R 1200 GS from 2013 and BMW R 1250 GS from 2019. On R 1200 GS models before 2013, the rear subframe has different geometry, and the manufacturer does not state compatibility.

For GS Adventure versions, the JP072W plate is required; it has its own page because the holes do not line up.

How to install it

The package contains four 15 mm spacers, four M6×40 screws, four washers, and the installation wrench. The spacers rest on the original mounting points, with the plate fitted on top.

The manufacturer instructs you to not fully tighten the screws during assembly: first complete all adjustments, then apply the torque in sequence, 12 N·m on the four screws. The manual is available in eight languages, including Italian.

Which top cases can you mount

The manual lists the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET and CONQUEROR series for this plate. In practice, this means you can change the top case depending on the trip without replacing the base. The top case is not included: this page concerns the plate only, and LOBOO aluminum top cases can be mounted only on LOBOO plates and luggage racks.

The rear load has a limit

LOBOO does not specify a maximum load for the plate itself: the limit stated by BMW in the owner's manual for the rear subframe applies, and includes the plate, top case, and contents. Recheck the fasteners after the first 100–200 km and make sure the top case does not cover the license plate or rear lights.

The plate material is not specified by any LOBOO source, including the manual.

How does it work, in detail?

Three compatible top cases, one mounting plate

The manual assigns the JP071W to the PIKE TRACKER, TIBET, and CONQUEROR series: you can change the top case according to the trip without replacing the base. Each model is available in a black or silver finish.

Mounting on the original points of the R 1200 and R 1250 GS, with no drilling and without removing anything from the motorcycle.

Four mounts, six top cases

The plate is compatible with the P45T, P36T, T36T, and C40T mounts, giving you access to the range’s top cases in black or silver.

The P45T fits a full-face helmet inside the top case, while the P36T and T36T keep the rear more compact.

GS standard only, not Adventure

The JP071W is designed for the standard versions of the R 1200 GS from 2013 onward and the R 1250 GS from 2019 onward. The Adventure models have a different rear subframe and require the JP072W.

This is the check to perform before ordering: the two codes are not interchangeable.

Also available in a more powerful version

LOBOO produces a version with a reinforced structure, designed for those who often load the top case to its maximum capacity or travel long distances on rough terrain.

There is a Sliding plate with a sliding rail: move the top case forward when traveling alone to centralize the weight, or backward when carrying a passenger to give them more space.

The rear load has a specific limit.

BMW specifies a maximum load on the rear subframe: this includes the mounting plate, top case, and contents.

It is the highest and rearmost point of the load: exceeding it affects stability more than the same weight in the side cases.

It's also the right choice if you haven't yet decided which top case to get: the plate accepts all three.
