Complete front-end setup for the Honda Africa Twin 1100 Adventure Sports ES from 2020 to 2023: two D7 PRO auxiliary lights producing 11,900 lumens each, the mount designed for this version, the CANsmart GEN II controller, and the extension cables.

The D7 PRO has two independent circuits in the same housing, and the controller uses them for different purposes: separate left and right central visibility optics, synchronized with the turn signals, and an external white circuit that follows the headlight.

The controller connects inline to the IMU, under the rear of the tank, and has 15 A lighting circuits each instead of the usual 10 A.

Who is it recommended for

A chi allestisce l'Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES una volta sola e bene, sapendo che il montaggio richiede di sollevare il retro del serbatoio per raggiungere la IMU. Meglio affrontarlo una volta e sfruttare poi il canale libero rimasto.

Se preferisci un montaggio da un pomeriggio, il kit DL4 con cablaggio universale dà 6.800 lumen senza smontare il serbatoio, ma rinuncia a regolazione e sincronia col faro.

How does it work, in detail?

The D7 PRO has two independent circuits in the same housing. In this kit, the control unit keeps them separate: the central visibility optics, divided between the right and left sides, flash in sync with the original indicators, while the outer white circuit follows the headlight.

During the day, you are visible and signal turns; at night, you get 11,900 lumens per auxiliary light and a 380-meter range.

On the Africa Twin, the module does not plug into a diagnostic port but connects in line with the IMU module, which is located beneath the rear section of the fuel tank: the seat and panels need to be removed, and the rear of the tank lifted. It is the most demanding installation in the CANsmart range, so it is worth knowing beforehand.

On the other hand, this module has 15 A lighting circuits each, instead of the 10 A found on most others.

The standard configuration uses three of the four circuits. The fourth remains available, already wired and already paid for: you can later connect a SoundBomb horn or a B6 brake light to it without changing the control unit or adding relays.

It is a practical consideration on this motorcycle, where opening the tank again for a second intervention is no trivial matter.

Do I really have to lift the tank to install it?

Yes. On the Africa Twin, the control unit does not connect to a diagnostic port but is installed in line with the IMU control unit, which is located beneath the rear section of the fuel tank: the seat and panels must be removed, and the rear of the tank must be lifted. It is the most demanding installation in the CANsmart range, so allow enough time or have a workshop handle it.

Does it fit the standard Africa Twin, or only the Adventure Sports ES?

This kit is specified for the CRF1100L Adventure Sports ES from 2020 to 2023 because the auxiliary light bracket is designed for that version. The control unit covers the entire CRF1100L family, so the other versions require a different bracket or the variant with crash bar clamps.

How much current can the lighting circuits handle?

This control unit provides 15 A per circuit, compared with the 10 A offered by most CANsmart units. This gives you useful headroom if you later want to connect higher-consumption auxiliary lights to the same channel.
