Complete front-end setup for the Ducati DesertX and DesertX Rally from 2023 onward: two D7 PRO auxiliary lights producing 11,900 lumens each, the dedicated lower front mount, the CANsmart GEN II controller, and the extension cables.

The D7 PRO has two independent circuits in the same housing, and the controller uses them for different purposes: separate left and right central visibility optics, synchronized with the turn signals, and an external white circuit that follows the headlight.

Connection is immediate: the EURO 5 diagnostic port is under the seat. The auxiliary lights are controlled using the cruise-control buttons, which must be deactivated for the controls to respond.

Who is it recommended for

A chi allestisce la DesertX o DesertX Rally una volta sola e bene. Il collegamento è fra i più semplici della gamma: porta diagnostica sotto la sella e comandi dai tasti del cruise control.

Due cose da sapere: il cruise control va disattivato perché i comandi rispondano, e su questa moto la funzione abbigliamento riscaldato non è disponibile perché le manopole non passano dal CAN bus.

How does it work, in detail?

The D7 PRO has two independent circuits in the same housing. In this kit, the control unit keeps them separate: the central visibility optics, divided between the right and left sides, flash in sync with the original indicators, while the outer white circuit follows the headlight.

During the day, you are visible and signal turns; at night, you get 11,900 lumens per auxiliary light and a 380-meter range.

On the DesertX, the auxiliary lights are switched on and adjusted using the “+ / RES” and “- / SET” buttons on the left switchgear, in 10% increments. The CAN bus connection is immediate: just use the red six-pin EURO 5 diagnostic connector under the rider’s seat.

One thing to know: cruise control must be disabled; otherwise, those buttons remain assigned to it and the controls do not respond.

The standard configuration uses three of the four circuits. The fourth remains available for a SoundBomb horn, a B6 brake light, or the rear T3 pods, without changing the control unit or adding relays.

What you should know, however: on the DesertX and Multistrada V4, the heated grips do not run through the CAN bus, so the heated clothing function is not available.

The handlebar controls aren’t responding—what should I check?

Cruise control. On Ducati motorcycles, the auxiliary lights are controlled using the “+ / RES” and “- / SET” buttons of the cruise control, and as long as cruise control is active, those buttons remain assigned to it. Disable it, and the controls will work again.

Can I control the heated clothing from the control unit?

No. On the DesertX and Multistrada V4, the heated grips do not use the CAN bus, so the heated clothing function is not available. All the others remain available: lights, horn, brake light, and switched power socket.

Does the kit also fit the Multistrada V4?

The kit is specified for the DesertX and DesertX Rally from 2023 onward. The control unit and mount are shared with the Multistrada V4, but that motorcycle has a dedicated kit: write to us if you have a Multistrada, and we’ll tell you the right combination.

Premium upgrade on my BMW GS
