Complete kit for installing a 120 dB SoundBomb Original air horn on the Ducati DesertX from 2022: horn, dedicated bracket, and wiring with relay and fuse.

That is about twenty decibels louder than a standard disc horn, which on a logarithmic scale means a sound that DENALI claims is four times louder. Here, the horn is the compact one-piece version: a single mounting point and no hose to route.

It must be positioned with the horn facing downward, within 25 degrees of vertical, because water that collects inside can cause the horn to fail.

Restano esclusi usura normale, abrasione, uso improprio, installazione errata, incidenti e modifiche. Il montaggio con la tromba non rivolta verso il basso o fuori dalla tolleranza di 25 gradi dalla verticale rientra fra le installazioni non conformi alle istruzioni del produttore, ed è anche la causa più comune di guasto per ristagno d'acqua.

L'uso del dispositivo di segnalazione acustica su strada pubblica è regolato dal codice della strada del Paese in cui circoli: verifica sempre le prescrizioni locali.

120 decibels measured at one meter, compared with approximately 100 for a standard disc horn. The scale is logarithmic, so twenty additional decibels are not a minor tweak: DENALI claims the SoundBomb is four times louder.

This kit fits the compact SoundBomb Original, not the two-piece Split version: there is no tube to route, and only one mounting point on the bracket designed for the DesertX.

It must be oriented with the horn facing downward, within 25 degrees of vertical: this allows splashed water to drain away, while water that collects inside will cause the horn to fail.

With the CANsmart, a relay isn’t needed

The SoundBomb draws much more power than a stock horn and cannot be powered by the original system: the included wiring routes it through a relay.

If you already have the CANsmart controller for the DesertX, the horn connects to its dedicated circuit without a relay or additional wiring.

Which horn exactly does this kit contain?

The SoundBomb Original dual-tone horn in a single housing, part number TTSB10000B, together with the dedicated DesertX bracket and universal wiring harness. This is not the two-piece Split version: it mounts at a single point, with no tube to route.

I already have the CANsmart control unit for the DesertX; do I need the wiring harness?

No, in that case the wiring with the relay remains unused: the horn connects directly to the control unit’s dedicated circuit, with the green wire to positive and the black wire to negative. The kit is still convenient because it gives you the horn and the correct bracket all at once.

Which way should the horn be oriented?

Vertical cylinder with the horn facing downward, with a maximum deviation of 25 degrees from vertical. This allows road spray to drain away: water that accumulates inside the horn will cause it to fail.
