Description LOBOO CHG102 Crash Bar for BMW C400GT from 2025 | Q345B steel, Ø 22 mm, with footrests included

The CHG102 is the LOBOO crash bar for the BMW C 400 GT: two side bars joined by a lower crossbar that absorb impact instead of the body panels. On a maxi-scooter, these are the largest and most expensive parts of the motorcycle, and the first to touch the ground when it falls over while stationary or is hit in a parking lot.

The kit is not just for protection: the package also includes four rubber footrests, two per side, which replace the original ones and improve grip and vibration damping.

The material is Q345B steel with a Ø 22 mm tube and a 1.5 mm wall thickness, finished with electrostatic powder coating, for a stated weight of 3.6 kg. It is carbon structural steel, not stainless steel: corrosion protection comes from the coating, so if the paint is scratched after contact, it is best to touch it up rather than leave the metal exposed.

Installation involves seven steps, identical on both sides, using the mounting points already present on the scooter: no drilling and no modifications to the original structure. All kit screws must be tightened to 7 N·m.

Regarding compatibility, we are transparent: both the installation manual and the Italian distributor state BMW C 400 GT from 2025 onward, while a graphic panel from the manufacturer lists 2021. We publish the more conservative range and have requested confirmation. If your C 400 GT is from before 2025, write to us before ordering instead of relying on the product listing.

A crash bar reduces damage from a side impact or a stationary fall, but does not eliminate it: LOBOO does not publish load tests for this part number, so we do not claim any resistance thresholds. Endurrad is the retailer, not the manufacturer.

Why choose it
  • Protects the most expensive part:on the fairings of a maxi scooter, a single replacement exceeds the cost of the engine guard.
  • Real scenario:falls from a standstill and parking bumps, the most frequent damages for this type of vehicle.
  • Black finish:integrated with the aesthetics of the motorcycle.
  • Dedicated to the model:BMW C 400 GT from 2025.
Who is it recommended for

It's useful if with your C 400 GT:

  • You park on the street, where bumps and side impacts are common
  • You use the scooter daily and want to limit the risk of fairing damage
  • You want to preserve the value of the vehicle for resale

Documented compatibility: BMW C 400 GT from 2025. Please check the year and trim before purchasing.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and notes

  • Check the tightness of fasteners after the first 100-200 km and periodically thereafter.
  • After an impact, check that the bar is not deformed and does not rest on fairings or components.
  • This is not an approved safety device and does not replace careful driving.
  • Verify model and year before purchasing.

How does it work, in detail?

Check the year: the sources do not agree

Check the year: the sources do not agree

The installation manual and the Italian distributor’s price list state BMW C 400 GT from 2025. However, a LOBOO graphic panel indicates 2021. We publish the more cautious date, 2025, and have requested confirmation: if your C 400 GT has front mounting, contact us before ordering.

Seventeen items in the bill of materials: the two side bars, the lower crossbar connecting them at the bottom, four foot platforms, the two support brackets, plus screws, washers, and the service wrench.

Protects the most expensive part of the scooter

On a maxi scooter, the side fairings are large, painted, and expensive, and they are the first parts to touch the ground in a stationary fall or a parking-lot collision. The two bars extend farther out than the plastic and make contact instead.

Four new footboards included in the price

The package includes four rubber footrests, two per side, that replace the original ones. The non-slip pattern improves grip and dampens vibrations: it adds comfort while providing protection, at no extra cost.

It screws into the point already provided by BMW

It screws into the point already provided by BMW

The kit uses the mounting points already present on the frame: no drilling, no cutting, and no modifications to the original structure. When removed, the scooter returns exactly to its original condition, which matters when it comes time to resell it.

Seven steps, all screws to 7 N·m

Seven steps, all screws to 7 N·m

The manual describes seven identical steps on both sides. The kit uses only M5 screws, in 14, 20, and 25 mm lengths, all tightened to 7 N·m. Position the entire kit before fully tightening, then tighten in sequence.

Matte black, along the hull line

Matte black, along the hull line

The bar layout follows the design of the C 400 GT instead of cutting across it, and the black finish blends with the dark plastics already present on the scooter. When stationary, it is barely noticeable—and that is exactly the point.

Three and a half kilos, down below

Three and a half kilos, down below

The stated weight is 3.6 kg, distributed across both sides and positioned low. However, LOBOO does not specify the overall dimensions of the assembled kit: if you have a narrow pannier, write to us and we will measure it on a unit in stock.

What it doesn't do

What it doesn't do

It is not an approved safety device and does not replace protective clothing. It reduces the damage caused by a side impact or a stationary fall; it does not eliminate it. LOBOO does not publish load tests for this product code: you will not find resistance thresholds here because none have been declared.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Which BMW C 400 GT is the CHG102 compatible with?

The official assembly manual and the Italian distributor’s price list both state BMW C 400 GT from 2025. That is the window we publish.

I read 2021 somewhere: which year is valid?

You read that correctly, and the discrepancy really does exist. A LOBOO product panel states «for BMW C400GT (2021- )», while the manual included in the package and the distributor’s price list state 2025. Two sources against one.

We chose the more cautious date range and asked the distributor for confirmation. If your C 400 GT is from before 2025, write to us with the year and version before ordering: we’ll check the mounting points rather than make you deal with a return.

What will I find in the package?

The parts list in the manual contains 17 items: the left and right bars, the lower crossbar, four rubber footrests, the left and right brackets, all the screws and washers, and a service wrench.

Do I need to drill or modify the scooter?

No. The kit attaches to the points already provided by BMW, in seven identical steps on both sides. Once removed, the C 400 GT returns to its standard condition without leaving any traces.

What torque should the screws be tightened to?

All set to 7 N·m: the kit uses only M5 screws, in 14, 20, and 25 mm lengths. The manufacturer asks you not to fully tighten them immediately, but to first position the entire kit and then tighten them in sequence. Check again after the first few kilometers and then periodically.

Is it stainless steel like the other LOBOO crash bars?

No, and we prefer to say so clearly. This model uses Q345B steel, a carbon structural steel protected with a powder-coated finish. Other LOBOO crash bars we carry are made of 304 stainless steel instead.

In practice: its mechanical strength is that of structural steel, but corrosion resistance depends on the coating. If the paint gets scratched after contact, touch it up rather than leaving the metal exposed.

Are the footboards included?

Yes, four, two per side. They are made of rubber with an anti-slip pattern and replace the scooter’s original ones, improving grip and vibration damping. The manufacturer does not specify a maximum load capacity, so we do not publish one.

Can I mount spotlights on it?

The kit does not include brackets for auxiliary lights, and the manufacturer does not state that it is designed to accommodate them. Universal clamps for 22 mm-diameter tubes remain a possible option, but this is a third-party solution not covered by LOBOO documentation: write to us so we can discuss it before you buy something at random.

Can I attach inflatable crash bar bags to it?

No. LOBOO inflatable crash bar bags are designed for Ø 25 mm bars, while the CHG102 uses a Ø 22 mm tube, so the attachment will not hold. We would rather say so here than deal with a return.

How much does it weigh, and how wide is it?

The manufacturer-stated weight is 3.6 kg. The dimensions of the assembled kit, however, are not provided by any source, and we do not publish estimates: if you need the measurement for a storage box or a narrow parking space, write to us and we will measure it on a unit in stock.

Do I need to replace it after a fall?

Check it. Verify that the bars are not deformed and are not resting against fairings or components, and recheck the tightness of all the screws. If the paint has been chipped, touch it up: underneath is carbon steel, not stainless steel.

LOBOO does not publish load tests for this part number, so there is no threshold above which the part is declared due for replacement: if in doubt, have it assessed by a workshop.

How do warranty, shipping, and returns work?

24-month legal guarantee of conformity for consumers, and we handle the claim with the manufacturer for you. Tracked shipping is free for orders over €100 in Italy and €250 in Europe. You have 14 days from receiving the last item in your order to return it, provided the product is intact and in its original packaging.
