When tightened, it holds the throttle at the selected opening; when loosened, the grip moves freely again and returns to its closed position on its own. This locks the throttle opening; it is not a speed regulator: the motorcycle slows uphill, accelerates downhill, and the device does not disengage automatically when you brake.
